| #1rgparisJan 25, 2010 15:00:06 | Hi, I want to ask/talk about having the Best of Both Worlds - Jan 2010 Character Builder and Online Gaming. I've been playing D&D since version 1 (Winter 1974-1975) along with some life long friends. I graduated high school in 1976. I served in the Navy on submarines and now am a Web Engineer for Pfizer or Citigroup or whoever needs Java UI and database coding done. I have played all the different versions and taught others how to be a DM. Its true all you need is dice, some paper, the rules and lets GO! As a web engineer, online gaming USUALLY sucks, though in the last couple of years I have tried a lot of online systems (WOW, Dungeons & Dragons Online: Stormreach) but really havent been impressed due to cost, poor gameplay or connectivity issues or a crappy UI. As for PC games I thought 'the Witcher' was a pretty good game system. I have always gone back to dice and rulebooks and well you get the idea. Now I DM for my kids (17 & 13), their friends (all teens) and my wife and sister-in-law. The January 2010 Character Builder has impressed us all. My players are converting their 'old' character sheets to the 2010CB version and loving the colors and 'the cards' and how the rules are built in. Recently over our New Years all night game during refreshments a couple of questions where the common thread of conversation was: Why wasn't there an online game NOW that we could play these characters in (import from CB and play by 4ed rules & monsters and ....) like tonight. So how about it Wizards! How about a 4e online game that makes use of these tools that look and work pretty well. We (my players and I) are waiting. |
