I played weekly in high school and was never able to find a group again to play with in my area. Not many people know anything about D&D around here other then "it's that EVIL game". I live in Plainville, KS and the name says it all!! 2000 rednecks strong! I am now 28 and even when I lost my group I continued to buy the books just for the love of the setting and art, and the hope that I may play again someday. Recently essentials got me excited to actually giving DMing a try and I have purchased all the products and started teaching my 12 year old brother to play. He really likes it but i still need a group which is why I can't wait to use the VT. I think it will be much easier for me to get my friends to play in a VT enviroment and the fact that they don't have to drive all the way to my deserted town is definitely a plus. cheers corey aka litebritedeath p.s. first post! hello to everyone |

I'm in the same situation. I can't play without driving 30 miles to my nearest FoLGS. I've already played with Fantasy Grounds II, and while it is a great program their matching services leave something to be desired. With the WotC VT, the matching is done on their servers and it is much easier to find a game to join. |

I think it will be much easier for me to get my friends to play in a VT enviroment and the fact that they don't have to drive all the way to my deserted town is definitely a plus. i believe my nearest "local" FoLGS is about 3 hours away!!! :P There used to be a really nice section in the local bookstore 30 minutes from where I live that basically operated as one but that place closed down years ago after Hastings moved into town. |

Is there some reason you don't want to use any of the 60 or so virtual tabletop programs that already exist, and don't require a DDI subscription to use? Here's a good one if you're looking for something that is cross-platform, is easy to install, has audio support, and doesn't require any scripting or XML editing to customize. It even has a Lobby feature to look for games or players. |

Mainly the simple fact that the products I have purchased will probably be implemented into the DDI VT(such as the tokens, tiles, etc) making it easier to come up with ideas on and off the computer. I already think my DDI subscription is worth the asking price and I see the DDI VT as a really nice bonus. |

Excitement is one thing, but beyond excitement leads to adrenal overload, which can lead to heart failure and stroke, or even death by aneurysm. As George Carlin pointed out: "More than happy" - You hear this alot - "Oh, I'd be more than happy to do that for ya'!" How can you be "more than happy?" This sounds like a dangerous medical condition! - we had to put Dave away in the home today....he was...well....MORE THAN HAPPY! *steps carefully away, hand on cell-phone, ready to call 911 in case of medical emergency* |
