| #1vradicaMay 09, 2009 12:12:30 | There are actually 2 problems to blood drain: I) Stats not showing up (bug with swordmage) I've encountered an issue with blood drain. After some testing, seems like only swordmage has this problem. When I go to shop -> add any type of blade into my equipment, the stats for blood drain stop showing up. (The stats I'm talking about is the break down of the attack bonus and damage that shows up in any attack power). My suspect is that whenever there is a sword in my equipment, it automatically counts as my implement. And since blood drain needs to have a hand free, there's a bug there somehow that prevents this? Couple other things I've tried: 1) with other types of weapon (non blade like a quarterstaff) blood drain stats still shows up. 2) This bug doesn't apply to other classes (at least with fighter and barb that I tried) 3) once I delete the weapon from my equipment, the stats show up again II) I noticed the power bonus of blood drain don't get the new power modifier when reaching lvl 11 (+4)and 21(+6). I think this applies to couple other ability I've came across as well, but I can't remember the others. |

The reason i ask is that the bonus also requires you to have a hand free. If you are getting you AC bonus then it is counting the free hand. Although looking at the blood drain in the compendium, it looks as if it is an attack of its own. Once per encounter you can use it to attack a target that you have grabbed (hence the free hand) and the way you make it sound, you are looking for some bonuses on other powers? Is that right? |
| #3vradicaMay 13, 2009 11:22:45 | Yes, I'm getting the AC bonus. Swordmage warding gives 1ac with no hand free and 3 ac with 1 hand free, but I do get the bonus depends on what blade it is (as long as it's light/heavy blade) the +2, +4 @ lvl 11, and +6 @ lvl 21 are in the blood drain description: Blood Drain Vigor rushes through your body as you drain life energy from your victim Encounter Healing Standard Action Melee touch Target: One living creature you have grabbed Attack: Strength +2 vs. Fortitude, Constitution +2 vs. Fortitude, or Dexterity +2 vs. Fortitude Hit: 1d4 + Constitution modifier damage, and you can spend a healing surge. Increase to +4 bonus and 2d4 + Constitution modifier damage at 11th level; +6 bonus and 3d4 + Constitution modifier damage at 21st level. Special: When you select the Vampiric Heritage feat, you determine whether you use Strength, Constitution, or Dexterity to attack with this power. And Last, in case ppl don know what I'm saying about stats not showing up, before I equip any blade: ====== Created Using Wizards of the Coast D&DI Character Builder ====== After I equip the fullblade: ====== Created Using Wizards of the Coast D&DI Character Builder ====== If you look under Build -> Power -> blood drain, you'd see the stats showing up before I equip the blade and disappears afterwards. |

In the description of the fullblade you will find the following: Superior two-handed melee weapon The fullblade is a 2-handed weapon, therefore you cannot have one hand free and thus cannot grab anyone. Try doing it with a Bastard sword or longsword and see what happens. |
| #5vradicaMay 13, 2009 16:37:18 | I have tried other blades even an off hand dagger. As long as it's a blade it wouldn't work. The problem here isn't not having a hand free... it is the Implement. I have just checked with wizard, as soon as I equip an orb (wiz's implement), it stops working as well. I guess my theory is right. It is the implement that's screwing up the stats as soon as you have an implement weapon in the inventory |
