#1 bomberooski Aug 23, 2010 18:21:07	Just trying to get into D&D. Picked up the Players Handbook today and read that if you get insider their is a D&D Game Table to play online... Guessing that that is not actually right unless I am blind. Just checking to see if I could get any help with this. If not here is there somewhere online that does have an online game table? Thanks.
#2 illcom94 Aug 23, 2010 18:29:36	Unfortunately no game table now and probably not in the near future. I'm hoping that they get it out eventually, but the only tools available are the Character Builder and Monster Builder along with the compendium. I'm hoping the next tool will be a Combat Manager and Adventure Builder. As for other solutions, I use Maptools a lot for the virtual game table. It's 2d, but pretty good once you get used to it.

#8 carnasus Aug 24, 2010 14:31:46	I could be wrong but I seem to remember the initial print run sold out with pre-orders. Not sure though if any other print runs would have the DDI pages which included the game table info at the back. I would hope not.

That post reads a heck of a lot snarkier than I intended it to be! I was responding to your link with a sarcastic question to Wizards, poking fun at the idea of someone ordering the next printing of books thinking the VTT  advertisement was coming "Soon." Please accept my most sincere "My bad."

Actually it kind of was his question.  He was suprised he couldn't find the VTT on the Insider site, the only way he could have expected that is from the advert in the back of the PHB.  It is my understanding that the second printing of the PHB was ordered before 4th Ed went on sale, and the 3rd printing wasn't long after it.  Unlike the deluxe editions they contain no errata. I expect the original adverts for D&D Insider to be still present in current stock.  Or at least, in plenty of stock thats still on FLGS shelves. And without wanting to retread some very tired old material, while the site does clearly state what the tools are, anyone coming from the original advert is going to be confused because there's not even a mention of the VTT anywhere or reference to that ad to explain why its not there.  Sure you CAN find all the information about the history of it all, but for someone coming from the ad reference to the site, they ought to be told why the current product doesn't match the ad simply to avoid confusion and as a courtesy to enquiring potential subscribers.
