| #1DevoDogFeb 06, 2010 18:41:44 | I just picked up a new color laser printer and installed it on Windows 7 64-bit. The printer works fine with other programs, but when I try to print from the CB, I get the following: "Failed to Print Your character sheet could not be printed. This may be because you do not have a default printer or valid printer configuration, or because your printer could not be reached." I tried to add this as an actual CB Bug using the link in the builder, but nothing ever loads for me to submit a bug. |

No change. Page never loads. It looks like I'm looping back and forth between two scripts. |

| #5chiefcastorFeb 23, 2010 21:08:05 | I just got this printer as well. And I am also using windows 7 64 bit and have the exact same issue. |
| #6clanbattlerageFeb 24, 2010 23:22:37 | I'm having the same issue, but in Windows Vista 32-bit with a brand new Brother MFC-9010CN over Ethernet. It sounds to me like there's some issues with these drivers. Anyone else out there using Brother printers successfully? |
| #7clanbattlerageFeb 25, 2010 9:17:45 | I'm having the same issue, but in Windows Vista 32-bit with a brand new Brother MFC-9010CN over Ethernet. It sounds to me like there's some issues with these drivers. I just found a workaround to my problem, anyway. Using the BR-Script driver (their PostScript emulator) seems to work just fine. I found mine by going to Brother's website and downloading it. They give instructions on how to install the driver. All you have to do is reconfigure the printer to use the BR-Script driver instead of the standard one and it works. |
| #8chiefcastorFeb 25, 2010 20:38:29 | Good find... but the BR-Script driver is not available for the HL-3040CN. ![]() |
| #9AesculapiusApr 18, 2010 9:32:01 | I am having the same issues with my new Brother MFC-9320CW. Has there been any progress made? |
| #10MotoruApr 19, 2010 12:37:30 | I have a HL-3070CW and have to use the Postscript driver as well. I found this for the MFC-9320CW: welcome.solutions.brother.com/bsc/public... It said it was compatible with the MFC-9320CW. If the driver doesn't work you can print to pdf (there are several free utilities to do this such as PDFCreator) and then print the pdf as normal. |
| #11shadostahkerApr 29, 2010 8:51:08 | Hey all, I also bought the 3040CN recently, and have been having this same problem. It isn't a Win7 problem, though, as it also occurs on my fiancee's WinXP computer. After finding this thread, I decided to call Brother tech support and have been working through the issue with them. (They even downloaded the CB demo to try to work it out.) I just got this back: Given the way this application’s image is constructed (Language), it’s heavy on high resolution graphics. The reason why most users of this application are able to print using a Post-Script driver is simply because a typical “GDI” printer can’t handle this much graphics. So it looks like we're SOL unless something changes in the CB itself. Luckily we have the PDF workaround. I will be forwarding this information on to WotC as a bug report, along with any other relevant information about the issue that I can (including this thread). I will also be trying to use the XPS drivers they offer, to see if those work (this may only fix Vista and Win7, not XP, but we'll see), as that seems to operate in a similar way to Postscript. I'll keep you all updated if I have any progress on this. |
| #12shadostahkerApr 29, 2010 21:25:21 | Update: XPS driver does not work as a workaround. Waiting for more response from CustServ (I've had my email forwarded on to the developers so they can look into it, and have offered to help them as best I can with testing on the actual machine). |
