| #1DarketowerMar 26, 2009 15:21:43 | So, I'm having a bit of a problem with the Multiclass Power-Swap Feats. Currently, what's happening is that I use my Power-Swaps to change up my power selections. The side-effect, however, is that power seems to become permanently "swapped" as far as CB is concerned, when it comes to selecting new powers from leveling up. Here's an example to explain what I mean: I'm building a Warden, multiclassed into Barbarian. Along the way, I've picked up both Acolyte (Utility) and Adept (Daily) feats. As I level up, I re-inform CB each level that I will be swapping out "this feat" for "that feat" under the Retraining tab. In particular, I've been swapping out a level 5 Warden Daily (Winter's Grip) for a level 5 Barbarian Daily (Silver Phoenix Rage). Along comes level 15, and it's time to learn a new Daily power, but I need to lose an older one in order to do so. My plan is to lose Winter's Grip and learn a new Warden power (and if I want to keep swapping it for the other Barbarian power, well, that's fine too). The problem is, Winter's Grip doesn't appear on the list of things I can unlearn, even though I've not selected it to Power-Swap out on the level 15 Retraining tab. There's nothing I can do, short of losing all instances of the previous Power-Swaps to get it to reappear on the list of Powers that I can unlearn at level 15. So now I'm stuck with this level 5 Warden power that I can't unlearn. To complicate matters, it works the other way, as well. If I remove all instances of the Power-Swap, and select the powers, unlearning and learning correctly, I can't retroactively go back to the Retraining tab and Power-Swap Winter's Grip on previous levels, because it no longer appears (I assume, because I've since "unlearned" it). Other selections in CB correctly handle this sort of occurrence (for instance, even at level 30, highlighting a level 12 Feat selection will display only the feats that are available at that level, as if I was level 12 again), but the Power-Swap section does not. Has anyone else encountered this? Is there a workaround for this, or perhaps some way of operating it that I'm not seeing? Any help would be appreciated (otherwise, consider this my bug report). |
| #2dalzigMar 26, 2009 16:22:24 | The workaround is to just "un-retrain" the power and replace the first power with the higher-level power. However, I have noticed the same holds true for feats. E.g. If you retrain Toughness for Improved Initiative, you can't retrain Improved Initiative later on. |

EX: 10th level wizard with Cleric training For 10th level I select Wall of fire as my spell plus Lightning serpent for my Spellbook. I then Powerswap my Daily and am given a list of 6 spells to chose from (all my Main Daily spells and all my spellbook daily spells) If I select Lightning Serpent and Swap it for Divine Power the Power cards let me keep both Wall of Fire and Lightning serpent and Add Divine Power to my selection of Cards. Lightning serpent is still marked as a Spellbook spell. If I select Wall of Fire and swap it for Divine power then I do lose Wall of Fire from my list of Power cards (and it is replaced by Divine Power) but I Still have Lightning Serpent listed as my Spellbook spell. |

Unfortunately, this workaround doesn't work in the long run. I tried using it, and it let me select the correct power for unlearning. Everything seemed like it was finally working right, if not a bit clunky. However, when I saved it, and went back to it later, it only remembered the highest-level swap. The lower-level swap that had existed prior to unlearning the lower-level power hadn't saved, and it didn't show up in the reloaded Character Summary. The retraining feature is certainly buggy. |
