| #1jefgodeskySep 28, 2008 15:01:59 | Early on, I heard a bit about a campaign journal being wrapped into DDI, making it sound a bit like what Obsidian Portal offers. Having it tied in with the character visualizer and game table would obviously add some nice benefits to using DDI's, but I haven't heard much about that component in some time. Is it still part of DDI? Should I keep holding out, or has the campaign journal elements been dropped? |

Clearly no journal appears to be in current plans of game table, the last application to be released. Features like a game log (or journal) was in part of the Gleamax (which currently lies idle) blog offer. I know this is not a complete answer, but it clearly appears to me the basics at launch at launch, features added later. |

They're focusing on the Character Builder, Character Visualizer, and Game Table. WotC_DM indicated they'd return to the Vault after those other "primary" programming was up and fully functional. |
| #4elfSep 28, 2008 20:57:51 | What sort of functionality are you looking for? The Character Builder has a Journal section for your character where you can add text entries or images. It's pretty minimal, but provides a timestamped index so you can immediately jump to any entry. |
| #5KentinalSep 28, 2008 21:16:44 | What sort of functionality are you looking for? Best guess, DM journal as request was for "campaign journal" a reference file for DM and players. If this still will exist at launch that would be a nice feature. I just had the impression that this feature would not be that quick. In all fairness, the OP should reply and for the record I reserve the right to guess wrong from time to time. |
| #6jefgodeskySep 29, 2008 16:36:03 | Well, what I'd heard about Campaign Vault made it sound like Obsidian Portal--a campaign blog and wiki, for the most part--with the added bonus of being tied into the rest of DDI. So, I was mostly looking for something along those lines: a blog for session recaps combined with some wiki functionality for tracking NPC's and other little things like that. The character journal sounds like a very nice touch, but not quite what I was hoping for. |

That, unfortunately, doesn't change it's "backburner" status. While it's still something on the 'ol chalk board, it's taken a backseat to the other applications for now. |
