| #1LGCOJun 10, 2014 12:58:21 | 1)does the forgotten realms/ Sundering/ dark sun all connect?clash?
2) Are the 2 different planes or of the same world
3) why does the character builder allow Dark Sun themes such as "Dune Trader" with a players hand book deity "avandra".
4)Should dark sun themes just be dark sun Characters?
I'M CONFUSED
5) *****is Dark Sun completely different than the sundering? or is dark sun on the other complete side of the world?
6) is there a map that connects both of these story lines? |

That being said, any adventure can be converted to any other setting with a little work on the DMs part. 2) Two different planes 3 & 4) Why not? 4E, more than any other edition of D&D, divorces fluff and mechanics. As long as the Dune Trader theme fits your character either mechanically, descriptively, or both, it should be available for use. When they made themes for places beyoind Dark Sun, they opened all of them up for all worlds. There may be the odd exception, but there is no credible reason for those exceptions beyond the whims of the development team. 5 & 6) see answers for 1 & 2. |

Now from a canon perspective, the two campaign settings are different. Forgotten Realms is more of your traditional fantasy realm. Things work the way you would expect. Dark Sun is a brutal world where people struggle to survive on a desert world on the verge of extinction. From a canon perspective, I view Dark Sun as an advanced setting. By advanced I do not mean better, just more difficult. The environment is quite capable of killing the players.
Now I only mean this from a canon perspective. The beauty of the PnP RPGs is that you can change them any way you like. The settings are just suggestions for your game world. |
