Can't get Shield bonus

Sep 22, 2011 14:40:17		Up until now, I've always been able to equip my heavy shield in the Off Hand slot, where it has always correctly given me the +2 bonus to AC and REF.

Today I got rid of my old Shield and got a new one.  It will not let me equip it in the Off Hand slot.  It won't let me equip ANY shield in the off hand slot anymore.  It will only let me equip a shield in the Arms slot, where it does not give any bonus to either AC or REF.   

(1) Is the change from having a shield equipped in the Arms slot instead of Off Hand intentional, or a bug?

(2) If it's intentional, is it a known bug that equipping a shield in the Arms slot doesn't give any bonus to AC and REF?  


I saw in another thread a problem that seemed similar (though not exactly the same), and people were talking about equipping and unequipping various items in various orders in order to "reset" the slots so that you could use the Off Hand slot; but I spent 10 minutes trying dozens of combinations and it didn't change anything.

Here is the general of what I've read and how it worked.

You are not allowed to have both a magic shield AND a magic "arms slot" item.  To prevent you from doing this they have made magic shields only equippable in the "arms slot"*.  They have also made "magic" shields NOT give the AC/Ref bonus.  Grab a "normal" shield and equip it in the "off-hand" slot.

* As I recall, the shields in the "arms slot" don't have any weight.
