Can't take legal feats!

Hey guys, I was entering my gf's character into the builder & no matter what I did, I could not take certain feats even though they were 100% legal. They just didn't show up.

I selected the "show all" option & took it anyway, but now I have the "house ruled" thing & it borks up everthing & I am afraid it will not correctly print her power cards. Specifically the one I remember not working was Astral Fire.

She had the correct ability scores to take it at the level she took it. If I switch her stats around so that he BASE score is enough, then it shows up as a legal option. But that is not helpful because it borks up everything else. And as soon as I level her & she gets the automatic free stat points, now her stats are wrong.

Is there a fix for this? And is it just this one feat?

My other question real quick if anyone cares to indulge it, is this: is there ANY possible way to print these using a Mac? For boring reasons, I have no possibility to print on the PC I use normally but I do have a Mac that can print. Of course, the Builder does not run on Mac & the sheets seem to save as some zany specific file format. Any chance I can drag 'em to my shared network folder & print em?

Thanks everybody.

Kind of need more information. What are you trying to assign as a feat? What are her stats? Were the stats rolled or were they point bought?

I'm not sure what you mean by the base score being enough. Are you using an ability score that is modified by race or item?

If you could tell us exactly what you are trying to put in and what you are doing it would help us to duplicate the problem and see if it is a program problem or a procedure problem.

As I said, Astral Fire.

The stats were entered specifically, as I said, entering in an existing character, not creating a new one.

By base stat I mean just that: base stat. Before racial, level-up, or other modifiers. What would have been picked by point array or rolled on the dice the old ways.

Astral Fire requires Dex 13, Cha 13. If you have say Dex 13, Cha 12, then put a point into Cha at level up (or the automatic point from levelling to all your stats, for instance) you can legally buy the feat, obviously. In the Builder, you can't. Doesn't matter if you make the character at lvl 1 & do it one level at a time, or if you just make a lvl 11 character then fill in your stats & feats etc.. It won't let you have the feat either way.

If you redo the character from scratch so that your stats are 13/13 before levelling or race or whatever, then it lets you have the feat. But then when you do level, it throws it all off so it's not a workaround.

Hope this makes more sense.

My one question would be is, if her Dex is 13, and Cha 12, what level are you making the character and what level are you trying to take the feat?

For example, and this might not be your problem but, for clarity's sake, I'll say it, with the Stats listed above, if you leveled the character to level 5, bumped Cha and something else at 4, you would not be eligible for that feat until level 4, so it wouldn't show up.

IF this isn't your problem, can you help us out by posting what race and class it is, along with what the final stats should be(including were you took ability score increases.

It's a lvl 11 Eladrin Wizard.

I have tried both making the character at lvl 11 then buying feats, or making her lvl 1, making all choices, levelling once, making choices, etc. up to 11.

Same results either way.

I am not sure what is going on. I tried it using the build a complete 1st level eledrin wizard with a cha of 12 and dex of 16 and then doing the power level (jump all at once) to lvl 11 and it did not show the astral fire even at lvl 4 when I dumped a point into the cha.

However when I did it using the one level at a time routine, at level 4 it did show Astral Fire after I put the point into Cha (used the same stat as above). I did a save after each level (just keep hitting the Next button when it was yellow).

Yeah it's pretty obnoxious. We ended up just retraining the feat for some of the flatout superior ones in Arcane Power since that got added to the Builder yesterday =)
