Can we hang out a sign?

Can we have a sign that says "Out to Lunch" or "Gone Fishing" or somehting to that effect when Character Builder is patching?

It would also be nice to have a bit of warning if an update is on-coming when a user is in the middle of a session.

The application may be designed to allow for on-the-fly code changes but it sure feels like you get kicked to the curb if you use it in the early hours PST.

Anyone else have problems trying to use it around 7:00 AM PST?

Are you sure they changed something?  The version is still showing 0.1.155.0 for me.

It depends on whether or not they will update all of the version number positions for each build or every time there is a minor tweak or bug fix.  I was just thinking out loud about some sort of warning if the Character Builder is not supposed to be used.  Perhaps they will just disable the link if that is required.

Stability seems to be weaker in the early AM PST andf I am guessing it is related to early starts on the day's activities.  This is all presumption on my part of course, it just feels like it is patching in the middle of using it.  Probably just a superstition I picked up in my current line of work.

Every build, no matter how trivial the fix, will increment the number in some way.  If they are not using this very basic policy, then I would be shocked beyond belief, as that is the only true way to track changes internally.  That's 101 stuff.

NB: from what I understand in another thread, this is because the backend edits to server-side material won't change the version number in the client.  Only changes to the client will do that.

EDIT: which is why we need an updated Known Issues List and, more importantly, a change log to let us know when fixes have been attempted.

they just have one version number. only for the client. the client has thus far not been changed.

so there's at least 2 more factors in play here, where they don't change version numbers: data and server/backend.
