#1 zenwar Nov 02, 2009 23:17:12	I was on automatic renewal, but I have decided to cancel it and will stop when my time runs out. I feel that in the last few months the value of D&Di has gone way down. The quality of the articles and content has decreased. This change came with the redesign of the website and the forum. The editorial staff has vastly reduced the length of the articles, and while they are putting out more articles, the tradeoff does not work for me. I want to also mention that I am a Mac user so using the tools is not a pull for me. I would probably keep these if I had a PC (though come to think about of it I have access to a PC). I do like compendium and some of the other on-line tools, but I am so disappointed with the change in the editorial direction of the magazines that I at least want to make a token gesture and cancel. I may change my mind. I am hoping that things will improve. I am making this post to see if anyone else also feels that the online content has changed for the worst. Maybe if enough people object they will improve things. I suppose that the real problem is that the magazines and online content are buffered by the other aspects of D&Di: character builder and monster builder.
#2 Artifact Nov 03, 2009 0:05:00	I don't think the content has changed for the worse but I do sense a shift in focus.  For me, shorter articles mean more crunch, less fluff.  I'm not necessarily disappointed (I enjoy crunch too) but a swing in the other direction would be very much welcome.  I don't believe they've abandoned longer articles, just that the shorter articles play well with the release schedule, so that's what gets latched onto first.  There's some very talented folks writing for Dragon/Dungeon, so I know there's always something 'bigger' in the works.  For the time being, I'm willing to give them some time to find a balance. I'm a die-hard fan of Dragon/Dungeon though; have been for years and years.  I admit, it's gonna take quite a bit to drive me away.  The cancellation of the print mags didn't do it (surprisingly enough).  A shift in focus hasn't even fazed me ;).

I will forward to WotC_Trevor a link to your post so that he can pass it up to the appropriate people. I can't guarantee that anything will be done about it, or that they will rechange the editorial direction of the magazines, but your opinions will be heard.
#4 zenwar Nov 05, 2009 0:33:21	One of the annoying things is that there are clearly a lot of talented people at wizards. I see some of the stuff they are doing in the forums. Iomandra and the Dragon Sea campaign looks great. They should publish that in the magazines. I feel as if the current content is not their best effort -- that is my chief complaint.
#5 elwyndas Nov 05, 2009 20:35:11	Hmm I'm quite happy with the relaunch of the site, the updated tools, and the content. In fact, there is so much content now available for 4E, who on earth can ever use all of it anyway? If anything, I hope they really put manpower into developing more and better tools, most importantly to make the DM's life easier. What I need more than anything is an encounter builder, with monsters and maps. What I don't want is a software that allows virtual D&D play. I know a lot of people are craving it, but we should have the basics covered first.
