| #1thelonemunchkinOct 21, 2010 15:43:39 | I can no longer buy magic items in the character builder. Why?!?! |
| #2dybrarhOct 21, 2010 20:03:46 | Check if they are labelled Uncommon or Rare – it's intentional for these not to be purchasable any longer; you'll have to add them and manually subtract their price from your gold reserves to simulate doing so. I have heard of some people being unable to buy any magic items, though, but haven't personally experienced this problem so far. |
| #3DavisWR87Oct 27, 2010 8:47:42 | Dybrar's explanation is correct. Personally, I think this decision was a mistake on WOTC's part. I know they did it to be consistent with the new item rules, but it just adds a level of inconvenience in creating higher level characters now as I have to manually subtract the gold. Builder updates should move in the direction of making the CB more flexible and easy to use, not the other way around. |
| #4CailteOct 28, 2010 5:08:49 | Yes exactly - hence why I would like a toggle to allow purchase of items freely just like before the Essentials books changed it. |
| #5awogamanOct 31, 2010 14:22:34 | ugh... I was hoping someone found away around this garbage. i would rather be set on fire than put up with this stupid magic item rarity nonsense. it should be made like the campaign settings where you can check it to keep it if you like having extra pointless pain in the ass steps for making characters, or you can uncheck it if you like your character creation process un-ruined by stupid needless things... dislike wizards, dislike! ![]() |
| #6ColdbrandNov 01, 2010 16:03:25 | Don't worry guys, it's not 4.5! Totally compatible! |
| #7CailteNov 02, 2010 2:37:57 | It is compatible, it just isn't easy in the character builder anymore, and that is a step backwards. Of course it is also compatible for a particular definition of compatible - one that the player base by and large do not use, even though it is a legitimate meaning of the word. |
