Cannot Find Equipment In CB Marketplace

Using the online CB's marketplace, I am unable to find 3 items my DM awarded over the course of an adventure.

ring of sympathy
gloves of grace
boots of rapid motion

According to the DM, they are found in Adventurers' Vault 2.

When I created my character (started at level 10), I was able to find:

Amulet of Health +2
Defensive Warhammer +2
Magic Chainmail +3

The interface for the marketplace is so poor, it is entirely likely that I just need to press the right button or click a checkbox somewhere.  What might I be missing?

1. Click Magic Items
2. From the drop-down menu, select Ring/Hand Slot Item/ Feet Slot
3. Use the search bar.

Searching for 'Sympathy' brings up the ring,  'Grace' gets the gloves, and 'Rapid' gets the boots (when in the appropriate section.)
If the search doesn't work, click the top of the 'item' column in the table (to get it in alphabetical order) and scroll down until you find it.

Make sure you're not leaving anything out by being restrictive in the Min/Max level boxes, or the item rarity.

Hope that helps!

Also check the level range filter if you've set it, you are level 10, gloves and boots are level 5 items, so might be filtered out because they aren't really suitable for a character of your level, same with the ring which is level 15 and effectively above your level.

If you created the character yourself you probably would have set it to 9 to 11 while you looked for one item at level+1, one at level and one at level-1 which is the standard equipment for a 10th level character.

When you created your character did you pick custom or new?  If you picked custom did you pick encounters, home, dark sun, or eberron?  If you picked new or enounters that might be the root of your problem as they would not contain that info.

Tmac,

Why would the choice of the type of character make a difference on the equipment choices I have available?

I chose quick essentials, iirc.

Which is why those items do not appear.  Quick Essentials characters have a significantly more limited option for equipment.  Remember that the "Quick" button implies significantly less option... this extends to equipment.  I believe there are only like 20-30 magic items TOTAL (across all classes) for quick essentials builds.

The quick essentials option only includes info in the Fallen Lands and Forgotten Kingdoms books.  It is best to go custom, and then home campaign.  It will still allow you to use the essential classes and give you the choices in those books, but if you choose to you can open yourself to more options.  The first screen is probably the biggest design flaw in the CB outside of the inventory system.  I hope this helps you, and don't feel bad as you're hardly the first person to get confused by it.

Thanks everyone for the help/suggestions (and Tmacsmash for being the first one to point out the actual issue).

I guess I read "Quick Essentials" as "Quick *Start* Essentials but otherwise the same as every other character".  Apparently, WotC thought of it as "quick because you have limited choices".

Of course, even in that "logic" they were inconsistent.  Every feat that has been published in any source book/material seems to be available (as long as the prereqs are met).

Is the new Red Box not part of the Essentials line?  I have a group I DM and I gave them the darkleaf leather armor +1 from the fledgling white dragon's hoard (aside: I don't think I ran my first skill challenge correctly because the party failed miserably to pick up the clues in the dialog on how to get past it without combat -- should I have told them which skills to focus on?).  That too appears to be missing as an option.

It's almost like Wizards expected no one to play an Essentials build in a "real" game.

Rant over.  Thanks again.

I had a similar issue with a character I was working on.  A solution that worked for me was to export the character to a builder file, and then import it back into the online builder.  Seems like an imported character defaults to 'custom' and you can select all available equipement.
