Dec 16, 2010 0:53:35 The missing thing is called DM Screen. You can buy one like most do or make your own like I do. Either way, you don't need to be online.

Dec 16, 2010 6:50:45 There are a lot of little things missing from the compendium. Like every sidebar from every book. Compendium is supposed to be a "rules reference" not a "book replacement" and for that purpose it has almost everything it needs.

Dec 16, 2010 9:19:39 My understanding is that it's supposed to be an encylopedia of rule ELEMENTS, not the rules themselves. That's why you will see all the powers detailed in there, but not what a power is or how to use it.

I don't know it for a fact, but I think you could probably play the game perfectly well if you had nothing but the Rules Compendium book and DnD Insider.

This is what I thought too at first but isn't there a glossary section that has a lot of the rules information. (I don't really feel like logging into my insider account to check it out).

I made myself a virtual gm screen. I no longer have to look for things, I can just pull up my files. Self sufficiency is the way to go.

I signed up for a DDI account two years ago (under the old forums) I didn't realize that the DDI account could be linked to my already existing forum account so I created a seperate account for DDI. I realized relatively quickly that I could have linked it over to my forum account but didn't really feel like going through all the hoops to change it so it's stayed that way ever since. My next renewal I'll probably jump through the hoops to turn off auto-renew and sign up under this account so I can play on the VTT using my forum name.

Does that satisfy?

I honestly come here to find out news or tips or discuss or whatever and then get bogged down in relentless negativity. I realize a lot that is WotCs fault but I can't help but lash back at it. I'm tired of reading about how the online CB sucks or the magazine content sucks or the vtt sucks and is built by someone else so wotc sucks or this poster is canceling his account or that poster is turning off auto renew.

It gets really old really fast. I'd avoid the forums all together but I enjoy posting here when it's... not this way (now that I think about it I can't really remember when it wasn't relentlessly negative here).
