| #1trinity227Oct 26, 2009 0:03:40 | I just upgraded my systems to Windows 7 but cannot install either Character Builder or Adventure Tools. I can download the link from the Insider website (with a little finaggling as there seems to be a site error that keeps me from logging in directly on that page, but I found a workaround by logging in on other pages first then returning back to the Insider webpage)... ...but I digress... Once I click on the link, and download the file, it does nothing. I have saved it to the desktop and tried to run it from there, ran it with the compatibility set at Vista (the last OS I used Character Builder on without incident), but nothing happens. With Adventure Tools, I can get the download working, but when I try to run it, I get an ERROR: 80005044 or something like that that states it cannot start. What can I do? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. OH BTW, I also seem to get a "technical error" when I attempt to click the EMAIL US link on the customer service help page. I have tried accessing it with both IE and Mozilla...and no joy. Once again...help! Thanks! |

IIRC, Windows 7 comes with a XP Virtual Mode. You might try installing that component, and then try running the character builder in it. It seems like a big hassle though, I think the VM install takes up a couple extra gigabytes. |

I was getting the above mentioned errors so decided to remove it and install the lastest downloaded version. However the installer doesn't do anything I was using the 64 bit version of Vista with the Builder with no problem so have tried to use multiple versions of the compatibilty mode to no avail.

If you can't get to the Contact Us page, you need to go to the thread here, follow the instructions in the first post, and post in the thread. An ORC will get back to you in a couple of days. |
| #7HerrozerroNov 06, 2009 15:51:41 | Im now running 7 with no problems with the DDI programs. Did you do an upgrade? or a fresh install? |
| #8yeepDec 17, 2009 6:30:47 | Try right clicking on the downloaded file, then click properties and on the properties page click the button "unblock" at the bottom. It has happened to me once that a downloaded installer did absolutely nothing until I unblocked it. Not even an error message. |
