#1 Aldoth Oct 22, 2008 5:05:09	So I would appreciate a download that doesn't show me that the file is damaged and cannot be repaired. I had to change PDF readers last time and now I have this problem with the document again. Please fix this as it is very frustrating and I would like to receive the benefits that I am paying for.

#6 sotp_seamus Oct 22, 2008 8:07:51	I first tried it with ie, and it wouldn't even open the file. I tried with Firefox, and it downloaded, but when I tried to open it, it was damaged. I'm using Adobe Reader 8. If you just downloaded it, have you tried opening it? I ask becaue I downloaded it, and thought everything was fine. To repeat what Aldoth said, this is the first time I have had an issue like this with D&D content.
#7 mudbunny Oct 22, 2008 8:13:13	I have it set up so that it automatically opens in my browser window. wanders off to try downloading it Yup, it worked for me. Granted, I had to Right click -> Save Link as -> Cancel -> Right click ->Save link as to get a chance to actually download the .pdf as opposed to the download.asp file, but it opened just fine.
#8 sotp_seamus Oct 22, 2008 8:22:53	OK, I got it to work. I just haven't had to jump hrough all those hoops before. And I wanted to be able to access it while not online. It's fixed though, as far as I'm concerned.
#9 Forgarn Oct 22, 2008 9:51:17	I cannot get it to work. What have you done? I can down load it, but when I try to open it it states the files is damaged and cannot be fixed. I am using FireFox 3.0 and have Acrobat Pro 7. I have it set to auto-open in the browser. I can open all the other recent stuff but that one will not open.
#10 Aldoth Oct 22, 2008 15:34:32	its working for me now. I have to say that most time it gets fixed in a few hours just a bit frustraiting but I understand that they cant get everything perfect but being able to download content is a large part of the service that we are paying for.
#11 Artifact Oct 23, 2008 11:02:59	Here's the persistent problem I'm having in opening, downloading, and saving Insider PDF files. Only Insider files, other sites and files are apparently unaffected. I am signed in, as indicated by my user name and green bar in the top right. I am using Internet Explorer 6, Adobe Reader 6.0.2 (not the most recent versions, but is it really necessary for my subscription to work?). I left click on the "See it Now" link and the PDF opens quickly enough. Unfortunately, it opens as a webpage ('html') document (including the IE web icon), which translates into a page of gibberish. Right-clicking and selecting "Save As" gives the same results. There's an odd-work-around I've been using (see below). I've experienced this problem before (when "Rescue at Rivenroar" was first released in Dungeon). Judging by a number of posts on these boards, I'm not the only one (the problem was apparently rare but was real). Same thing: I sign in, double click on the "See it Now" link, which opens as a "text" file in Wordpad (in this case), which translates into a page of gibberish. The work around was to right-click and "Save As", then open my PDF reader, then open the document from inside the reader (the current problem has a similar work-around, see below). * * * I seem to have found an odd "work around" for the problem I'm having in downloading the D&DI files (see directly above for details). Right click on "See it now" link. Then, click on "Save Target As", either right or left click, until there's an option to save the file as "text" (not "html"). Once saved, it opens as a PDF (if not, see below). Sometimes I need to right click on "Save Target As" to bring up the option to save as text, sometimes it's a left click that does the trick (seems random); you want to save with a "text" file extension, not "html" (it doesn't work). If for some reason it doesn't open as a PDF (just as often, it opens in WordPad, translated as gibberish), then open Acrobat Reader. Click on the "Open" folder icon. Make sure "all files" (not just "Adobe PDF files") can be viewed. Then, double click on the saved file (it has a WordPad icon), opening it from within the Reader, then save as a proper PDF file. Lastly, erase the now worthless text file. * * * When I (and others) had the problem previously, it was suggested that it's not an issue of "file association" (that is, my other PDFs open correctly). It was also suggested that an "authentication" page might be the culprit. The problem went away for a while but now seems to be back in full force. A bit of a wordy explanation (for me), and I've posted it elsewhere on the boards. I just wanted to pitch in (once more) and let everyone who's having problems (and identified themselves in this thread) that they are not alone. There is a definite problem and it seems to be on WotC's end; they've even made such an admission in Digital Insider #12 (I'll edit and post a link if necessary, but don't have it handy as I write this).
