| #1vraadSep 28, 2009 11:00:38 | Hello. I would like to start off by saying that I really love the characte builder. Its a great tool and as I look ahead to picking up my D&D campaign in about three months, I really want to encourage my players to purchase the subscription so they can use this great tool..............but........... But I am having a hard time bringing myself around to asking them to puchase a product that won't work for our campaing in its current form. I have been runing in this same campaign world for just shy of 15 years now. We've gone from 2nd to 3rd to 3.5 to 4th editions, converting along the way. There is a lot of history with this world and whenever we get new players we spend at least one full session explaining all the history that previous players have been involved in. All of this has created a world that is alive and breathing. However there are a number of things in this world that are not standard D&D fair. such as unique races, classes, and equipment. And there begins my problem with character builder. As I said, I really do like this product, but if I can't take all of this stuff that I have poured hours and hours into, and place it in this neat tool, its really of no use to me or my group. I have a hard time asking a player who wants to play a Tutorean Guard (unique class) to use pen and paper to play his character when everyone else gets to use the character builder. Or what about my elves who use weapons that are completely unique to my world and don't have stats that completely match anything else in the character builder. I can't ask them to have to keep up with all the math when my normal human fighter gets the program to do it for him. In the end, what I'm asking for here is for information on when and if there will be a further enhancement of the customization pieces of the character builder. I want to be able to add a class and all its powers and builds and such and have it work like any other "official" class in the tool. The campaign will continue this January (we've been on a break playing Star Wars Saga, great game too) and I really want to use this, but I need to know where to spend my time here. If the customization is going to be enhanced between now and then, then I'll put time into setting up my campaign in CB, if not, then I've got a lot of typing to do as I transfer notes into my world book. Thanks |
