A new bug seems to be that, like the Armor choices, a number of magic weapon options are missing due to poor parsing - Spear is being read as the weapon, not the group for a number of weapons.

Trying to print the character sheet to pdf creates a blank pdf. Also first page of character sheet still defaults to essentials style.
Edit: The later seems to work now. It seems they meant it'll default to what choice of sheet you made last time.

rod expertise does not appear to be adding the to hit bonus for hexblade attacks that are weapon and implement powers (i.e Icy Skewer, Piercing Shard, etc) when rod is equipped in offhand. (works fine on the hexblades implement only powers)

EDIT: oh look at that; it's a "known issue".

Sentinel Druids don't get their alternate stats added to AC.  But I noted this earlier that it didn't appear in the compendium.

It's good to see that they've acknowledged that Crescent Moon isn't working properly (it's a good power, but both Character Builders fail to get it right).

Also, on one of my characters at least, saving throw bonuses are being displayed in the "Conditional Bonuses" space under Defences as well as in the space under "Saving Throw Mods".

Just built an Infernal pact Hexblade and the Builder gave me BOTH pact weapons instead of just the Infernal pact one.

Edit:Ah I started as a Fey pact and switched, I see where that is listed under known issues already.

Beguiling Strands spell. Base push of target is 3 squares. Enchanters get a +2 to the force movement in squares. So the new push in squares of 5 isn't showing on the power card.

Same thing with the Orb Expertise feat the addition squares in force movement isn't showing.

And please please please sort the powers.  I mean really...

Improved Power Strike for Essentials melee classes doesn't seem to be appearing on list of class features (it did prior to stability fix, noticed it disappeared few hours before todays update) for Slayer and Knight. I think it also happens for Improved Backstab for Thief. Just tried it with Scout and it appeared for him, but only one checkbox got added to the power card (I think they gain additional uses more than once?)

Edit: Correction - thieves show three checkboxes for Backtab

I can't make a Songblade Khopesh. The khopesh is a heavy blade, so it should work, but it doesn't. It works when I import it, but it would be cool if I could import a character and post-import, label it as "Forgotten Realms" instead of "Custom.' I realize it makes little or no difference, but if it really doesn't make a difference, why does it matter what you pick? I can't import a character, for example, and put it in Dark Sun to get a theme, can I?

When I save my characters, it loses all the PC fluff info, name, age, weight, height.  I fill all that in, the tab shows green, I save type character and the tab shows I have not named my character, and all those fields are reset to the default.

For all classes and races: In the feats section, the racial and class feats category is GONE.  You can no longer pick them...

Think you guys need to hotfix this one.  That's pretty bad...

Neither Dragonborn nor Humans (maybe other races) cannot choose Constitution for their ability bonus.  Dragonborn gives you a choice, but you can only choose Strength.  Human gives you a choice of any ability score, but Constitution.

Yes.  I went into Chrome and tried it the CB on that browser.  Works fine now, retaining the character info, letting me pick Con, etc....

I think what happened is that I updated a level 21 half-elf that I had previously made in the online CB.  I went to save it and the CB froze.  I restarted and could not reload by half-elf.  restarted again, and started playing around  with some other characters.  Weird stuff started happening, like being unable to choose male, constitution, losing Pc info, the xp was being set to 175,000 but the level wasn't changing, etc...

All is working fine when I went to the chrome CB, but still cannot reload my level 21 half-elf.  I think that file got corrupted and is now corrupting the rest of my CB.

Five of the languages from Forgotten Realms (Netherese, Shou, Thayan, Tulgan, and Untheric) have no description, and strangely will keep the description of whatever previous language you click on for a summary of.  Also in Heroes of the Fallen Lands it says the Revenant is a playable race in Essentials, but whenever you go through Essentials quick character or the Encounters steps of making a character the Revenant is never a choice.  Is this something that will be added latter like the Executioner, Assassin?

I just want to confirm that the entry in the Known Issues list that states, "Inherent bonuses are always enabled" is actually correct. Can anyone verify how it's implemented? When I tried creating a level 8 character and went to the marketplace, I wasn't shown level 1-3 items until I changed the setting. Is that what this entry means? Or does it mean that, if I select +1 armor it will continue to increase my A/C at the expected levels without me having to buy new armor? If that's the case, then if I buy +2 armor, will it make my A/C +1 too high at later levels due to the inherent bonuses?

We had the benefit of using the beta Assassin for months in the original CB, but after 3 months none of the versions of Essential Assassins have shown up in the new CB.

Hexblade Star Pact (Nov 5th) is not in the CB.

Inherent bonuses are suppose to always be trumped by equipment bonuses, therefore even if it were always on, it should not add to the equipment and armor, but it will add to a character that does not have an item with a bonus.

So, a 8th lvl chr without magic armor will get the bonus, or if the armor bonus is less than the IB, it will get the IB instead.  This in theory is how it is suppose to work.

Not trumped, but they don't stack.

Thus if you had a +2 item, but a +3 inherited bonus, you'll get +3, which can be an issue.

-- Loading a male character and saving it will change it to female and make it not able to be loaded again.

Well, this isn't working for me in all instances. For example, I created an identical Hybrid Battlemind/Ardent in both the online CB and offline CB. The online CB shows an A/C of 23, while the offline CB shows an A/C of 24.

When I export the character from the online CB into the offline, I see that "Spellscarred" and "Harper" are checked, while "Inherent Bonuses" is not. When I de-select Spellscarred and Harper and then select Inherent Bonuses, the A/C calculates correctly as 24. When I then import that corrected character back into the online CB, the A/C then correctly shows up as 24. (So that's the workaround, I guess.)

Also, as an added annoyance, the character portrait (Wilden) from the online CB instead shows as ClassPortWarden when imported into the offline CB.

If there's a way to attach those export files to this forum for others to investigate, I haven't found it.

One strange thing I also noticed was that when I exported my character from the offline CB to the online CB, it actually kept my portrait from the offline CB! I wonder if that's a workaround to use custom portraits? (It shows up on my online CB character sheet when I print it, but on the "Load a Character" screen, it shows "no portrait selected" even though it appears when the character is loaded.) I haven't tested further, though.

I exported all of the characters and if I clear CACHE I can see human and male initially. But if I try to import the human paladin I have, it locks up for over 10 minutes (I forced refreshed) and that seems to remove human and male as an option for a character.

Dragon #393 won't be until next month. Therefore no Star Pact or Winter Pact Hexblades until January.

Dragon is always on a two month delay, rather than one month (ideally) for books. If the CB crew is "on track" as claimed, then this should be true going forward (barring months with holidays, apparently).

Sadly, this means no Executioner until February.

which sucks! i thought the whole point of making CB online was so that they could update it quicker and easier.... the article is online... the CB is online... how hard is it to transfer over? i get that with the original CB they had to keep the packet size small and program all the crap etc etc but if its online only... it should be a cake walk to update their stuff every day... of course this rant is assuming that WOTC put out a functioning product....... *Sigh*

heres a bug to report- the CB is still online only...

I was able to add a Tome of Replenishing Flame for the wizard that has one. (Good.)

I then chose two powers for the tome. (Good.)

I then saved the character, and the aplication locked up. (Bad.)

I reopened the CB, tried to load the wizard, and the aplication locked up. (Very Bad.)

I tried again, still locked.

I tried a different character, and that worked.

I tried the wizard again, still a total failure.

I've submitted a bug report (again) about this issue.

Every once in a while, for no reason that I can discern, buttons and fields will simply disappear on me.  I.e. last night the field to put my character's name was just plain not there.  I exited the builder and got back in and it had returned, but it was most definitely gone.  I have also had the "Choose For Me" button on the equipment section come up missing from time to time.

No patter to when these things happen that I can tell, and not often.  But weird and potentially annoying.

Hi guys!

As of the recent OCB update I'm experiencing problems when I print a character sheet. Everything looks fine in the initial preview. However, once I hit the print button the right margins of pages 2 (racial features etc.) and 3 (character details and equipment) get cut off -- both on screen and on paper. This also happens when I print to a PDF file. Anyone else notice that particular behavior?

A few things have been fixed, like weapons as impliments, but mostly the list is bigger because the general population used it and found them.  Thus it's now a more complete list, and IMO, most issues are now "known".

If you find some that aren't on the list, post here so they can fix them.

When I try to load my 10th level swordmage that I imported into the web CB last month the program locks up with the screen going grey.  When I try to created a custom character theCB only lists 6 defenders:
Battlemind, Cavalier(Paladin), Fighter, Knight(Fighter), Paladin, And Warden.

When I use the search function to find the Swordmage, it finds nothing.
I know that the Swordmage is not an "essentials" character.

Hmm so I can re-create the problem I was having with PHB1 fighter not being an option. I tried importing an offline PHB1 fighter that I have imported in the past without issue. This time though the CB just spins its wheels and eventually times out. No error message or anything but the screen is still grayed out like it is thinking. If I close my browser and come back in to the CB the option to make a PHB1 fighter is gone. If I clear my browser cache the option is back. Very strange and it may very well be a problem on my end but I have no idea what it could be. I was able to re-create the character from scratch, avoiding the import, and he built fine.

Another thing that is probably a bug - Essentials characters can't, when given power options, pick a power of lower level (as in for example, Cavalier picking a daily on level 5 has only level 5 options, can't choose a level 1 one). Tested on Cavalier and Mage, probably true for other E-classes.

Yes me too. Its really disappointing because id got a session of D&D planned with my son and his friends and we ended up playing Savage Worlds instead after we had wasted so much time trying to get the character sheets to print.

Custom character.

I just made a 5th level Cavalier choosing "Custom" then "Home Campaign". I then went to the "Choose Powers" area and clicked on "Choose a 5th level Option" and when I click "Show Other Options" it shows me a list of 11 options to choose from.

So not sure what problem you are encountering.

I noticed that it did this for Page 2 of the sheet but the other sheets presented correctly.

@Dargurd What is missing in the margin on Page 2 should have had no impact on you playing the game what so ever. The tidbit of information would have been calculated on the sheet correctly since Page 2 is just a summary sheet.

It would have had no effect on you playing a game of D&D. But I think you knew thata

I did know that but im trying to teach a small group of 12 year olds how to play the game and it helps to have fully printed sheets. I really do love 4ed and think it is by far the best version of the game and I really do want the OCB to work as it has a lot of advantages. Ongoing problems like this don't help though :-(

I have no intention of getting rid of my subscription at this point but i will be using the CBC for the time being.

Your statement still makes no sense. The piece of missing data will in no way effect your game with these children.  My son has been playing since he was 9 and something that has no mechanical effect on the character sheet would not even phase him.

Right now the CB isn't working at all, but before that I couldn't find the armor "Battle Harness" anywhere.

There seems to be some issue with the way the CB interacts with the latest version of silverlight.

The armors not populating to different armor types is a known bug.  It comes from the OCB looking for as an example Cloth, Leather but the database has it as Cloth, leather.  The difference between a capital and lower case letter is causing the problem.

There are several items that are not available in the OCB.

  • Bracers of the perfect shot

  • Gauntlets of Ogre power

I also can't select item rarity at all for certain item types specifically "magic items".

The auto builds for ranger (hunter) build the worse possible build and forget to equip ranged weapons as primary for the ranged build. Overall I think the OCB is a really flawed design and implementation and the CBC was much better...

Or someone with edit privileges to the database doing a search and replace.

Personally I find it rather telling that something like this, which would be a 5 min fix for someone competent, has continued to be in the software this long.

At this rate we won't have a Character builder that is even as good as the one they abandoned until it is time for 5e to come out. (and we can only hope they will pick a good outsource company to build that one)

Why any coding these days is still case sensitive is beyond me. You have to have a damned good reason to use it in industry and infact nearly all systems come either with an option to turn off case sensitivity or with it turned off by default.

I know as a DBA I nearly always create a logon trigger when I first arrive at a client which turns off case sensitivity if it's not already turned off.

QFT.  *I* could have fixed this, and I don't know coding from sliced bread.  Find-and-replace is not deep magic.  Nor's XML.  All the data is still coded in XML.  It's frankly pathetic that this sort of basic data-entry error still hasn't been fixed.

Windows AFAIK is the only OS that is case insensitive.  All of your *NIX flavors (Red Hat, Ubuntu, OSX, Solaris, HP-UX, AIX, etc. etc. etc.) still have case sensitive file systems.  And passwords should always be case sensitive.  The company I write code for has an app that is used on these platforms (cross platform) and therefore needs to be case sensitive.  In a database it is nice to use a mix of upper/lower case so that your data looks pretty when you do reports from it.  For example "Name" as opposed to "name".  In the case of CB you should be printing "Leather" instead of "leather".

It's kind of pointless debating whether it's a good idea or not to have case sensitive programming (passwords aside, I'd definitely err on the side of NOT, though) - the program clearly IS case sensitive.  What needs doing is for those case errors to be fixed.  As previously discussed, this is a VERY easy fix, as far as we can see.  It's a simple data entry error.  Taking the minimal time to fix it would go a LONG way to persuading those of us who are despairing of anything actually happening that WOTC are doing something to fix these errors.

It's difficult to think of another cause, when armours listed as Cloth, Leather, Hide show up properly, but those listed as Cloth, leather, hide do not.

If it is something else, then fine.  But the data structure seems to imply otherwise.

Yes, it's certainy possible, based on the available information that the problem is a case difference.  However, you (and many others in this thread) seem to be mistaking the way data is displayed for how it is stored.  (Or possibly the way it is being transmitted for how it is being stored.)  When data is stored in a database it *certainly* isn't as simple as the 'find and replace' so many people have suggested as the 'easy fix'.  The idea that people here think they're storing all this data as XML on the server, and accessing the data from those files is mind-boggling.  Quite simply, that doesn't scale to the sort of loads we're talking about here.  Databases are much more efficient, both in storage space and access speed.

There's also the matter of available resources and prioritization of fixes.  This may well be a simple fix, but it is also lower priority than the stability and display issues they had at launch, and therefore it is going to be fixed *after* those issues.

To get things back on topic (this thread is for reporting bugs, not explaining why/when they get fixed)

It definatly seems like the missing class (and presumably gender) issue is related to importing. So if you get it, send the file as a bug report.

Then I suggest building from scratch.

The builder appears to confuse the Druid Class Feature "Primal Guardian" with the theme of the same name. When I get a new power, it allows me to choose the theme power, even though the character doesn't have the theme. In fact, it's not even a Dark Sun character.

Bug:  I have my character, Barakas loaded.  He has "Resilient Focus" that gives him a +2 on saving throws.  The "Character Builder" Character Sheet correctly shows the bonus and feat.  Then I load my wife's character, Pheren, who does NOT have that feat.  Yet the character sheet shows she has the same saving throw bonus, even though it doesn't show up in the feat section.

If I completely shutdown the character builder between character loading, this bug doesn't occur.

I have noticed a similar issue with loading any character after a dwarf and its the same thing, the dwarf's +5 saves vs poson ends up on the next character.  It sounds like some variable in the program just plain isn't getting cleared between characters.  It should be the kind of thing the programmers could fix in five minutes.  Of course, its also the sort of thing that should have been caught in even the most basic testing, but there you go.

Even when it does come up, however, I haven't been able to get information on rare magic items from either the Character Builder or the Compendium. That is the overriding reason that I resubscribed to DDI in the first place. I need to be able to item shop for my PCs. Please provide the data.

I had this happen in the shop as well. For instance: if I create a new character that wears leather and then create another character that wears chain, the shop shows leather armors by default as opposed to the highest tier like it does with a new character from a fresh load.

It appears that the builder doesn't reset its state between characters. At least, not entirely.

Just to confirm the printing issue bug that others have been reporting. I printed out several character sheets on Sunday and on pages 1-3 the right hand side was cropped off, looked okay until I printed it, then both in the builder and in the final print out the right hand side (about 5 to 10 mm) was chopped off. The action card pages however printed okay without a problem.

Note I was printing on A4 paper, as I'm based in the UK.

One issue I had, and this may be a hard one to pin down, was that after I built three characters and printed them out, the fourth one would only print four blank pages. Additionally, when I looked at the sheet on my monitor it was missing a few power cards.

I tried printing twice and both times it just spat the paper out without printing. I closed out the browser, reopened the builder and reopened the character and was able to print at that point.

Not sure if this was an issue with silverlight printing, the builder not clearing it's state properly between characters or some glitch in the character data but it was there.

Using Windows 7 with IE8 and most current silverlight plugin.

I found what I think is a bug.  Lifegiving platemail +2 should give a +10 total increase (+2 for magic and +8 being platemail) to a character's AC as far as I know.  Instead in the CB, it gives a +11.

This seems to also apply for some other platemails and scalemails but not all (e.g. normal platemail and +1 Battleforged Platemail seem to work fine).

Maybe there's just some applicable rule that I'm forgetting but I think it's a bug.

I tried to scan for this, hopefully I didnt miss it, I'm sure someone will point out if I did.

OCB, using this example, is missing proper attack and damage text in cards.

10th level Hunter, Disruptive Shot.  The card reads:

"Cold Iron Longbow +3: +18 vs. AC,
damage"

The damage calculation is missing for the bow.  The Ranged Basic Card however reads fine:
"Cold Iron Longbow +3: +18 vs. AC,
1d10+10 damage"
so it does not appear to be a lack of space issue.

Thanks

Few extra things that I know have been talked about as well.

If I equip his hand axe (off hand) it assumes this is my ranged weapon, and then I no longer get any bow results on my cards (bad).  As much as the hand axe can be a ranged weapon, it is not normally ever.

So, for all those who have also said this, we really do need the ability to see more weapon options than what you "assume".

Yeah, I can confirm this.  Level 21 Hunter that a player made up a week ago for my game.  No damage is listed and the other effect on hit (immobilize or daze) is also missing.  Basically the card is blank except for the "title" text with the to hit bonus and the word "damage".

This is actually correct as of the Essentials rules. They made two changes to the masterwork armor rules. First is that the different grades don't have different names. Second is that all armor of sufficient enhancement bonus (+2 for Heavy armor, can't remember what it was for Light armor) is automatically masterwork

I'm guessing I'm sounding pretty noobish here?  I have axe expertise, and the weapons are heavy thrown.  I'm guessing there's a rule for only 1 feat that gives a bonus to things like attack or damage?  Totally missed the HT part.

No, bonuses of the same type do not stack - if it says it's a 'feat bonus' then only the highest will apply.  Similarly, power bonus, item bonus, racial bonus etc etc etc.  The only bonuses that stack are those without a qualifying descriptor - a simple +1 bonus or untyped bonus.  And even then, they stack only when they come from different named game elements (i.e. different power, feat, item, whatever).

Make sure of the rules before you report a bug ;) there are more than enough bugs to be had without incorrect reports.

I have noticed that some attack powers do not show what defense they are used against.  Instead of saying something like "+4 Vs Fort" they will say "+4 vs, "

And what weapon are you using for the RBA?  If it is a heavy thrown weapon it will use your STR

There's still a bug here.  For HT weapons it say's "Dex vs AC".  Though it's calculating correctly.

The reverse is also true.  If you have a Thief your MBA will show STR vs AC, but calculate as DEX (correctly).

Darkleaf Leather Armor +1 still isn't showing up as available in the inventory. I've seen this mentioned in other forums, but it's still not on the "known issues list."

(Spoiler) It is ironic and unfortunate that this item is given out in the adventure included in the starter set

It's known to the forum, and appears to be due to a parsing error in the lists of armour types.  The workaround is to buy a Cloth version so you have the enchantment handy, and add a generic magic +X leather so the builder can do the calculations.

Character Builder Bug
Fighter (with an 18 STR)
Tempest Build
Dual Wielding Off-Hand Weapons
(Short Swords: Non-magical)

The 1st level fighter power "Surprising Stab", does not calculate in the additional " +'s " for Two Weapon Fighting and Tempest Fighting.

Damage should indicate: +1 for Two Weapon Fighting & +2 for any Off-Hand Weapon.

note: I have not tested this with other off-handers and their magical counterparts-- just the short sword.

end of line.

[Bug] Dwarven Weapon Proficiency

The online D&D Compendium and the D&D Character Builder's Character Sheet (not the Builder itself, but its Character Sheet) have different versions of Dwarven Weapon Training.

It should read "You gain proficiency with the throwing hammer and the warhammer," but the Character Builder's Character Sheet reads incorrectly as "Proficient with hammers."

This bug is allowing dwarves to gain superior hammers' (i.e. Craghammer) proficiency bonus to hit, for "free," without having to spend a feat as usual for a superior weapon.

straight from the Compendium

Heroic Tier
Prerequisite: Dwarf
Benefit: You gain proficiency and a +2 feat bonus to damage rolls with axes and hammers.

Published in Player's Handbook 1, page(s) 194.

Looks like it will grant proficiency with Craghammer unless there was a different errata that wasn't updated to the Compendium.

One of you is talking about a feat and the other is talking about a race feature. I'll let you guys decide who is wrong.

There is no such bug that i could observe. I created a Dwarf Rogue and he couldn't take Craghammers. The OCB Character Sheet only give an brief abbreviated resume of the Racial Feature, but the Racial write up is correct and works just as its supposed, giving only proficiency to Warhammer and Throwing Hammers.

Dwarven Weapon Proficiency (dwarf racial feature) is what I meant to say across the board, my apologizes.

If you pull up the Character Sheets in the Builder, you'll see that Dwarven Weapon Proficiency does not match the rules text in either the Builder itself under Race, or the online Compendium.

On the character sheets, under Racial Features, Dwarven Weapon Proficiency reads some nonsensical rules description that isn't found anywhere: "Proficient with hammers."

This is allowing, for example, a dwarf warden to select and use the profiency bonus of a superior craghammer, for "free."

I figured out the bug in more detail by doing the following (please replicate and you'll see).  It appears the bug is specific to the Craghammer and/or Weapon Proficiency with the Craghammer, and/or an interaction with the Marketplace:

1) Creat a new dwarf warden, level 1.

2) Take the feat Weapon Proficiency: Craghammer.

3) Go the marketplace and add a Craghammer.

4) Back to builder and Equip the Craghammer.

5) Note your attack powers' bonus includes the proficiency bonus.

6) Deselect/unchoose your feat Weapon Proficiency: Craghammer (while it's still equipped).

7) Note that your powers' attack bonus has not changed with the loss of the feat.  You can take any new feat and the proficiency bonus "ghost" still stays with the character.  Thus, you've now picked up proficiency with the Craghammer for free.

Has anyone else noticed Rogues going missing?  When I try to load my rogue, the OCB just hangs, and if I try to make a new rogue (when I tried to remake the character, assuming something on that specific file got screwed up) rogues don't come up at only, excepting eThieves.

That's a forum-known bug to do with the import failing, which seems to remove all options relating to the failed character.  There's no reliable workaround at present, but I'm sure DrNick will be along soon to ask you for help figuring out the problem ;)

LOL. Just trying to be helpful. If we can pin it down we can help people fix it. Alteratively, you can cancel your DDI and ask for a refund. I'm sure that's the solution thespaceinvader would prefer. ;)

Eh, I've been considering resubbing for the Compendium and Dragon, actually, but I'll leave it til the end of the month at the earliest.  But I still won't use the OCB.

I know. I was just doing some good natured ribbing as I'm sure you were. In the end, I just want to help people. Since I haven't been able to replicate the problem myself, I've been largely relegated to making suggestions and asking for feedback.

Remember, I am in no way affiliated with Wizards. I'm really just trying to be helpful.

I did, then removed Weapon Proficiency: Craghammer to pick instead Dodge Giants, and the Prof. bonus to attack roll was not there anymore, going from +6 to + 4 (18 STR)

No bug.

(make sure your other Feat you select is not Dwarven Weapon Training, or else proficiency to Craghammer will be retained.)

Ah, but I didn't import my rogue - I've been using him since the online CB went live, when importing wasn't really working.

Probably the same bug, particularly if you haven't opened the character since exporting went live.  You'll probably have to delete and reconstruct, I fear - try exporting, deleting and reimporting first, though, that might work.

Ah, so maybe it's Dwarven Weapon Training causing the problem?  Is that bugged?

All I know is, I'm not blind.  I've triple checked this, making an exact copy from scratch of my player's level 11 warden.  The proficiency bonus is STILL there.

I use to think it was an import/export issue, but after creating one from scratch, the proficiency bonus is still on the character sheets' powers, and of course the Dwarven Weapon Proficiency description is completely wrong on the character sheet.

The closest thing I see to this on the list of known bugs is:

  • Features that let you replace one element with another, such as retraining and multiclass power swap feats, do not work correctly in some cases.

No, Dwarven Weapon Training is MEANT to give you Craghammer proficiency, along with EVERY other Axe and Hammer.

As mentioned in one of the many other places you reportesd this, make sure you've selected another feat to replace it (that doesn't give the same bonus anyway), and the bonus should go away.

Again, however, the description on the sheet is IRRELEVANT.  It is not rules text, nor should you read it as such.

But yeah, there is a bug nonetheless.  The builder has a tendency to retain the states of certain toggles (evidently, including weapon proficiencies) past when it is told to.  It shouldn't.

That's the essentials rules - masterwork no longer exists, the bonuses have been worked into the AC progression of magic armour.  Which is somewhat confusing, given that previous masterwork gave a variety of other bonuses.  But that seems to remain unclear.

That's what I was missing, the fact you get Dwarven Weapon Training PROFICIENCY in Superior axes and hammers with the FEAT... my mistake, sorry about that.

Description on the sheet of the Dwarven Weapon Proficiency RACIAL FEATURE is still wrong, and I disagree with you: I say that's very relevant, because that's what you use to play the game.

And we agree on the types of bugs you mention.

Thank you for your help clarifying things, I appreciate it.

No, the rulebooks and errata are what you use to play the game.  The CB is not rules material, nor is it claimed as such, nor should it be.  Nor are the character sheets it produces.  They are references to rules material.  If you want to know the particular rule, you have to look at the rules material directly.

Also, being very careful about wording is important.  Some game elements have very similar names and effects, as you've discovered in this instance - being clear which you mean is important.

A couple bugs, I'm not sure if they've been posted...but reading through 16 pages of bugs and sniping ain't worth it.

    1) The Enchantment School Expert bonuses to Bluff and Diplomacy are not showing up on the sheets or in the builder calculations.

    2) Garrote Novice- Choking Grab option requires you to re-choose Strength or Dexterity after you save the character.
