#1 mellored Jan 18, 2011 10:09:43	According to trevor, the CB will be updated today (though it doesn't seem to be up yet). So post any issues/bugs with the new build here. Here are the current known issues. Edit: Since this thread is way off topic, i started a new one for the bugs.

That's why they should hire a software company to do what they are wanting.  I understand that they were burned before but if they want to have to make DDI something to shine in the Digital World they really need to do hand it over to people who do it for a living. Plumbers aren't electricians either.  Sure they might be able to wire up an Electric Water Heater but they might just short out the breaker too.

Release the API (and sample implementation) to the general public. They will come up with a nice clean CB in about one month. Everyone wins.

If they can't make a functional CB, what makes you think they can make a secure API?

Where were they burned before?  I used the Core Rules character builder for 2nd edition and it worked great for me.  For 3rd edition E-Tools and PCGEN by Code Monkey were excellent character builders also.  I was very disappointed when WOTC pulled Code Monkey's right to sell D&D data sets for PCGEN and the E-Tools program.

Right, and more people where using the cracked version then the pay'd version.  Half the reason they switched to online in the first place. anyways, i started a new thread since this one is off topic.

I agree, but an API would be harder to use AND less secure. I don't think the online CB is harder to use, or at least, not intentionally harder to use.  Slowness and bugs can certainly take their toll, but the bugs will get fixed and the internet connections will improve.
