CB miscalculating use of Staff of Knives (as dagger)

Background:
I play a sorcerer, with the dual-implement spellcasting feat.  At this weekend's session, my DM gave my character a Staff of Knives +3, with the full intent that it most often be used by my character in its dagger form as 2nd implement (my character already wields another less-powerful magical dagger).  The point of using the Staff of Knives explicitly in the dagger form rather than the staff form is that it can then take advantage of my character's dagger-only feats and abilities (Weapon Focus- Light Blade, Versatile Expertise - Light Blade).  My character does not have additional staff feats/abilities.

Problem:
Despite being a two-form item, the Staff of Knives is only listed in CB in the staff category, and doesn't appear anywhere in the dagger categories.  As a result, when it is added to my character's aresenal and equipped in either of his hands, it is producing incorrect calculations (attack and damage workspaces as well as power cards).  It fails to include the benefits of Weapon Focus (light blade) and Versatile Expertise (light blades), even though it is a dagger.

Partial Workaround:
In addition to the Staff of Knives +3 card, I gave my character an additional generic Magic Dagger +3 card, and renamed it "Staff of Knives (math)".  The sole intent of this card is to use it in my attack/damage calculations (I don't really have an additional item), while using the regular card for staff usage as well as for flavor/property information.  Even this was only partially satisfactory, as I had to customize this item with d8 damage instead of d4 damage to make it correct.  The critical damage listing on my custom entry is also incorrect .  Unfortunately, this custom entry makes my character houseruled, as I have modified an item.

Fix Needed:
Include a "dagger" version of this item in the Magic Items list, that can be selected instead.  Or better yet, just allow the original item to be fully considered in both categories (staff and dagger) automatically.  In any case, I shouldn't have to be calculating this item's attack/damage rolls manually, or creating a math-only workaround card that makes my otherwise legal character houseruled.
