As the title says, I installed Silverlight (which was a pain, btw; the pop-up window from the CB launch button kept dumping me to Google, stating the browser was unsupported (I'm using Firefox on a Mac using OS 10.4, and I finally got it by googling it myself). However, whenever I try to launch the CB, it still sends me to the download Silverlight page. I've uninstalled and reinstalled, to no avail.

Are you trying to run it on a G4/G5 as opposed to Intel mac? Apparently it doesn't work on the former.

I don't think the installer will run on a non-Intel Mac.

I had the same issue when I installed Silverlight last week. I think I'd had an older version installed at some point. I was able to get Silverlight 4 working by doing the following:

  • Close all your web browsers

  • Delete the following:

    • /Library/Internet Plug-Ins/Silverlight.plugin

    • /Library/Application Support/Microsoft/Silverlight/ (this is a folder)

  • Run the Silverlight installer again

You can check if it's working by going to www.microsoft.com/getsilverlight. The version you have will be shown at the top of the page.

Yeah, I found out it was the fact that the mac is a PowerPC, which is non-Intel. So without realizing it, the Silverlight website was having me download version 1 (the only version that will work on the computer in question), and you need version 4 to run the CB. So pretty much the one main advantage for me in this new web-based CB - the ability to use it on my mac at work for last minute character revisions for my Friday night game - is a non-starter.
