| #1CendragonJan 13, 2011 23:41:46 | Okay, so I've been trying to learn to like the new Character Builder but there's a long way to go and it's really making me angry as I just tried to launch it and it's not loading. Hmm. . . this never happened with the old CB because it wasn't online and thus wouldn't be affected by crap happening at Wotc. I think this company has Skill Focus (pissing off loyal customers). ![]() |

I have to agree with your assessment... |
| #3T-MackJan 14, 2011 22:07:57 | Since the CB has moved to online, I can use it on my mac without bootcamp or anything; plus my players can access my CB from anywhere on the planet. So, I disagree with said assessment. Where does that leave us? |
| #4drnickJan 14, 2011 22:38:37 | this never happened with the old CB I disagree with your assessment. The old cb crashed on me numerous times. |
| #5ebokJan 15, 2011 1:56:20 | It's not a lie that the CBC isnt usable by some of us. The OCB does allow those of us on Macs that dont have the money for, or real need for windows via bootcamp etc, to play with the numbers. But I suppose I only use it for complete and detailed lists of abilities in one place. I also ignore the items of 4e, and enforce the age old, know where and why your bonuses are what they are; so my players don't really care what the ocb tells them. I'm not really sure what point I'm getting at. Online isnt bad for everyone. This one could be better, but some of us don't mind. I suppose that's the setiments I'm going for. |
| #6lokiareJan 15, 2011 15:33:09 | I'd much prefer it be useful to everyone as opposed to a tiny group: has DDi sub -> has internet access where needed -> has a Mac -> doesn't run into game breaker bugs I'm sorry if I have no sympathy... |

Lying? Well I suppose there is that ice hut in Bouvet that has escaped the interwebs, but there aren't any d20s there either so I don't count it. Hyperbole? That is the language of the forums. No less offensive than touting a return to the old CB when it had at least as many bugs, glitches, math errors, and the rest as the new online one. |

| #9lokiareJan 16, 2011 19:54:23 | The CBC had much fewer bugs than the current OCB. There is a thread that has like 50 pages of bugs for the OCB. Though it would be nice to keep actual bugs to the bugs thread... |
| #10CendragonJan 19, 2011 19:33:52 | To make one thing clear I rarely come on these forums to complain about Wotc. I understand that we're all human and trying to do the best we can but the OCB was one of, IMHO, the best things Wotc ever did. Now, I understand that from the back-end it may have been difficult to support and not sustainable, but that doesn't excuse them from rushing out a new CB that's really only 1/2 finished. Ever willing to have Lucy set-up the football I rushed home after work when hearing that over or around 300 bugs had been fixed. Unfortunately after modifying one of my characters and trying to save it I was once again met with frustration. ![]() ![]() |
| #11kage-nekoJan 22, 2011 8:17:48 | This is the first time I've needed to do anything with my character since the switch. I got online to try out the new character builder, and I have to say, I'm not happy. I click the link. It takes a couple minutes to load, then crashes. I try again. It takes a couple minutes to load, and this time it lets me in. So I click to build a new custom character. So far so good. Click the standard campaign. Wait... wait... and it crashes again. In the time it's taken so far, I could have had an entire new character built in the old CB. My DM has a Mac, and so on the one hand I do understand that for many people, this is an improvement. Of course, those people have Macs, so that right there is saying something. :P JK For me though, this is a major turn for the worse. On the plus side, it means that I won't have to buy any more books, since I'm stuck with what was in the old CB as of its final update. |
| #12pavlovaJan 27, 2011 15:13:33 | I have to agree, I find the new one unpractical and I'm extremely disappointed to come home today saying "ah I feel like creating a character for fun" and realizing it's all online now. I really don't like it. I mean having BOTH would've been perfect, I guess. I'm really disappointed. For me me it's not even the crashes, I just don't like the interface. |

| #14pavlovaJan 28, 2011 16:36:40 | to be fair, i have yet to experience crashes i don't think WoTC fails in general, but this time.. I might cancel my sub. I kept it for the character builder updates but I don't think I'll use it anymore. |
