Character builder searches not working?

Apr 27, 2012 9:10:16 I am trying to update my parties characters using the character builder. My party is currently running the keep on the Shadowfell, in character builder when I click inventory>find equipment>advanced search it gives me the option to selet H1 KotS and search all items within that module. However when I hit search it returns with 0 items found.

anyone have problems like this?

The only item I see from KotC is called Aecris Weapon. It's a level 5 magic longsword. When I did a search for 'aecris' in the Character Builder, using the advanced search, I see this weapon in the results. Are you saying you can't find this item? Or are you expecting different results?

Apr 30, 2012 12:54:44 I was expecting different results. I thought it woulda had all the items dropped as loot within the KotS. Guess thats not the case. Which leads me to a new question. One of my players got this items

Shield of Protection: Once per encounter as a standard
action, you can use this large shield (value 680 gp) to provide
you and an adjacent ally with resist 10 to all damage
until the end of your next turn.

from there, if it doesnt shw up in the character builder is there a way to add it?

Apr 30, 2012 15:49:55 The Shield of Protection was originally published in the Player's Handbook 1, so it would show up as having that for the source, rather than KotS.

If you know the name of an item, you are usually better off searching for it by name, and not filtering by source. You may also be restricted if you have selected to make an Essentials character, which does not have access to all of the pre-essentials magic items.

If you have a non-essentials character and you search for Shieldof Protection, you should see it in the results, as long as your character is proficient with shields. If you are not proficient with shields, then select Marketplace, select the Armor category, uncheck the box that says 'show suggested items', select shield, and search for Shield of Protection there.

Apr 30, 2012 16:01:12 Thanks, I believe this character was generated using the essentials. Is there anyway to take that restriction off so I can see all the items when I search? I had tried searching for the shield by its name as well with no luck.

Apr 30, 2012 16:19:55 Not that I'm aware of. I think the only way around it is to rebuild the character as a Custom D&D character.
