| #1Revan299sJun 20, 2009 0:27:26 | okay I have tried several times now to get the CB working on my XP machine. I download '700_DDI_CB.exe' I run it; it downloads the installer. I run the installer and everything seems fine. when I open it I get the crash error box that asks me to send info to microsoft. It never loads at all. I uninstalled it completely, using the method in the FAQ. reinstalled it, and the same thing happens. ![]() I repeated this about 5 more times and I am about to start pulling hairs lol anyone have any ideas? I should note it works fine on my vista machine no problem. but I NEED it on my XP machine lol. |
| #2dreadmageJun 21, 2009 11:05:36 | I am having the same issue, I have uninstalled, redownloaded, and reinstalled multiple times on my XP SP3 machine, and cannot get it to launch successfully. I get the box that says Updater Stub has encountered an error and needs to close, blah, blah, blah, do I want to send an error report??? Not sure what the conflict is here, I meet all system req, and have a newer computer (less than a yr old), if anyone is familiar with this issue, please reply asap, thank you |

If you can get characterbuilder.exe to run this way, try downgrading from IE8 to IE7. I had this problem and the only to fix it was to uninstall IE8 and replace it with IE7. |

| #5Revan299sJun 22, 2009 0:11:20 | I use mozilla firefox, my IE is whatever it was a year ago, I never use IE, it sucks too much??? same. But I checked and my IE and its IE7. so that can't be the problem. I am really frustrated because I purchased DDI for the CB. |

Neither do I, but for whatever reason, the Character Builder uses something in IE (perhaps some module to display downloaded text or something) and IE8 broke it on my machine. |
| #7driezalJul 04, 2009 11:53:42 | Has anyone found a resolution for this problem yet? I've been suffering the same error, even after carefully following the FAQ, and then trying some of the suggestions made here on the forum. So far, no luck. It won't open. |
| #8_Mithreinmaethor_Jul 04, 2009 13:07:24 | Make sure you have the .NET 3.5 and its updates installed. |
| #9dreadmageJul 05, 2009 0:22:08 | I have done the .NET 3.5 & updates thing, so it shouldn't be that, and I am running IE7, so it shouldn't be that, the problem occurs when attempting to launch the "Updater Stub" that program crashes on launch every time, no matter what I do. I would really appreciate some "official" response to this, it sucks when the only part of DDI I thought was worth paying for, is the only part I can't use. but thanks to those of you that have tried to help thus far ;) |
| #10_Mithreinmaethor_Jul 05, 2009 10:37:13 | Do you have your IE disabled in settings on your system? Some people do this and it really messes things up with the CB. (i.e as in a friend did this) |
