First suggestion if you haven't already done so it to just re-run the ddisetup.exe file in the "WotC Games" folder that should be on your desktop as part of the initial download.

You should also make sure that you are not out of hard disk space as this will stop the installer from being able to write the extracted MSI file to your temp folder.

If you are still having the problem, the error message in the dialog should contain the path to the temporary folder where the temporary install files are placed. Without closing the error dialog, if you can screen shot or copy the contents of that folder and post it to this thread, it may help us to diagnose the issue.

Well I have 458 GB out of 489 GB free. I have re-run/re-downloaded/purged all mention of the program from my computer even from the registry. I still get the error.

When I start the ddisetup.exe it runs fine and takes a few secounds to unpack the Character Builder.msi file to this location C:\Documents and Settings\The Other Freaks\Local Settings\Temp\{67255799-729C-4D11-BF03-EAE1571DE157} When I look at it right after its unpacked it it has a size of. 43.6 MB there are three .INI files and a Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 (Web Download).prq file with the .msi file

Right after it extracts this it pops up with the windows installer message saying the feature you are trying to use is on a network resource. I point it at the Character Builder.msi file and then it gives me an error 1606 could not access network location. then the install fails because I can't continue.

I tried starting the install directly from the .msi file and it gives me the same errors.

I had put in a help ticket for this. I am fairly computer savvy and have tried several things. The computer is a new custom built computer with and AMD x2 Dual core 5000+ Processor with 1 GB of ram and an ATI Radeon HD 3400 video card. I am also running Nlite modified version of windows XP pro . I don't think the mods I made to the OS effected it because the program was installed on it once as the bata and as the full version before this error with no problems. The Bata was uninstalled completely as was the first instalation of the full version.
