| #1dewrimNov 28, 2010 11:30:03 | Hi, I was using the new webbased character creator to help my group make their characters "official" for our Darksun campaign, and I noticed some issues that are kind of annoying. First, the Fixed Enhancement Bonus option, is nowhere to be found. Since Dark Sun is expected to have this in operation, I find myself annoyed at having to go through and manually setting each item to a basic +1 just so that the characters have proper #s on their power cards. Second, Divine classes. I know that Dark Sun is a world based on not having these classes readily available, but the book even says if you want to use them, use them. I allow Runepriests in my Dark Sun campaign, as they add quite a few potential story hooks for me to use, and I just go with the Runes themselves supplying the power, not the Dieties (makes for a type of magic that Sorceror Kings are interested in gaining control of, so I can have fun with NPCs). There should be an option to have these characters here. Themes, Can only be used on Dark Sun created characters (so if I want to create the divine characters to use, I can't have a theme on them, or the appropriate feats/powers that my characters choose to use with those themes) Bad math. The Essentials version of one of my characters (just 1 so far, oddly) doesn't add up his skills properly. He has a 10 CHA, and is level 3, so should have a +1 to those skills that are CHA based, but not trained (barring any bonuses from race, etc). However his sheet shows 0s on these skills. When I use the other version of the character sheet, it adds up just fine. I'm sure there are other things I can't think of right now, but I am at work, and can't refer to my notes until a later date. Anyone else having issues, and hoping that the next update is going to resolve some of them? *edit* Remembered another thing I can't find. Any kind of option to alter the character sheet to my liking (listing different weapons on powers, or the sheet itself for bonuses to att/dam), removing extraneous information that I don't need. |

If you have a couple of range weapons it just seemed to pick the first one you added to the character. There is no way to change the sheet layout currently, although they said they would look into adding that later. The fact that it does not show its work means I can't really trust the sheet to do things correctly. If you have more then one copy of an item the character sheet will only show the name, not the total number carried. There were a number of poor design decisions when they were putting the online builder together and its going to take them awhile to get it all straightened out. Based on the fact that they are going into the holiday season I would not expect any great improvements before the new year. Although I would be happy to be wrong, and very surprised. |
| #3dewrimNov 29, 2010 19:55:44 | I noticed the # of items thing yesterday. And I have had to double check math on all of my characters for different abilities/skills. My Archer build Warlord, has no stat increases on any of his attacks, because the program doesn't parse the Str stat for the ranged attacks, trying to use his dex. My hybrid bard/warlock that uses a wand and a shortsword, it doesn't add his wand to half his abilties (soem of both classes). All in all, I am very disappointed in this character builder, and am very unhappy that they have decided to only support this, even in it's infancy. Had they continued support of the old, as they brought this one up to speed, I would have been a happy subscriber, but as it stands, I am very unhappy to be a paying beta-tester. Thanks for responding and confirming a few things I had already suspected. |
