| #1artoomisMar 03, 2011 13:20:20 | I just sent in the following suggestion to WotC (comments welcome): I have the following suggestion for a character sheet addition that I have found extremely useful. I think powers (including item powers!!) should be listed in three ways: 1. By frequency of use (At Will, Encounter, Daily) organized as they are now by attack powers and then utility powers. 2. By action type (Immediate Interrupt, Immediate Reaction, Free Action, No Action, Move Action, Standard Action). This is extremely useful in managing my turn during any round. 3. By trigger for all powers that have a trigger of any sort - even things that happen automatically such as, say, Death Saving Throw modifications. This is extremely useful due to the many, many conditional actions powers/properties in this edition of D&D. An example of this would be to list all things that happens when one's PC is bloodied and what happens when an ally is bloodied and what happens when an enemy is bloodied (assuming anything happens due to a power or property of some sort). It is extremely difficult to keep track of it all. I use lists like this, and, while useful, they are subject to error since I have to manually produce the list. It would be far better if the Character Builder produced this list instead, though I do understand the difficulties involved since the data structure might not quite support this as some powers/properties may only listed as plain text that would have to be parsed for key words. I included an attached example from my 21st level monk; I will show part of it here (standard actions are not listed as I have no real trouble keeping track of those). I started doing this as I kept needing to know my options for the various types of actions (as in, "Hmmm... I still have a Minor Action available this turn, is there anything I could do?" or "I just got hit with a Critical Hit for a lot of damage, do I have an Interrupt that can help?"). There could be errors in here, but it still serves as an illustration of what I have in mind:

I remember Trevor mentioning plans of some sort of "maths sheet" being added to the OCB in the post about the February update, so perhaps something like this is already in the queue. And if not, I'd really like to see this suggestion at least considered by the devs. A quick overview over all powers sorted by use and action type would often be worth its weight in gold! |
