Characters of War for PHB2?

May 17, 2009 19:45:06 I was wondering if there will be a further Characters of War supplement for SOW giving backgrounds for the Races and Classes in PHB2?
We are planning on running SOW soon and at least one of my players has expressed and interest in running an Invoker.

May 17, 2009 22:23:59 My guess is that they won't. Going back and looking at the CoW supplement, there's not a whole lot in there that seems to be informed by the AP. I believe we're yet to see a single place, person or organization referred to in that document. Since the backgrounds are not restricted to any particular class or race, there's no reason a Shifter couldn't pick up Silent Hunter or Former Barbarian, and there's no reason why that Invoker couldn't have Auspicious Birth or Trained from Birth for a Specific Prophecy.

I suspect the only further Dragon articles that will reference SoW will be those "Sucess Along the Adventure Path" articles that inspire revulsion on these boards.

May 17, 2009 23:37:30 Interesting question, however if i recall correctly, there was onlt one SoW supplement offered.

That was more a side trek as opposed to adjusting to additional classes.

There should be no clear reason that PHB2 classes can not be used, as Design and Development have been focused on all classes having been balanced.

In practice, it realy will come down to party interaction and testing the Design plan.

May 18, 2009 8:14:00 I say as long as you and your players can justify using a particular background in that article, there's no reason why a character can't have it. I gave a Deva Invoker "Trained From Birth for a Specific Prophecy", saying that he's always known he was meant for something important, and, over the course of his lives, has sought his destiny within that prophecy.

What that prophechy is will unfold as the campaign does, and he will frequently cite the prophecy as justification for his actions.
