I am a paid subscriber. I am giving you money because I have enjoyed playing D&D. I liked 3rd edition when it came out, and I really like 4th edition, and so I am willing to support a company that gives me the things I like. I have been trying to stay optimistic about the changes I have been seeing in WotC lately, but what I see is very distressing.
From what I can see, the forums have been filled to the brim with angry and upset customers since the last few months of 2010. I understand any forum on the internet has an abundance of anrgy trolls and goblins that are never happy, but many threads here go 8 pages or more of people crying out and begging for change or information before a single post by someone coming to WotC's defense. And that someone is never a member of WotC staff.
I have tried to locate posts from staffers, but they all seem to be product updates, pomised conent (that may or may not actually come out), and general posts that rarely connect with the Community at all. Picture the forums as an angry mob standing outside your doors, and you just walk up with a sign saying "More Content Soon!" then turn around and walk away. Is there not a single staffer dedicate to actually talking to the community in more than a "hold up the sign" fashion?
I understand to recent economic climate is distressing, and money may indeed be tight, but there must be hundreds of people willing to take an unpaid internship at WotC (I would in a heartbeat if I lived in the area). Why not put together a gaggle of interns, and make them your posters? Even if they don't have any more information to dole out, just having someone that is a WotC employee posting and responding on a regular basis (more than once a week or once every few days, as is currently done) would go miles and miles to make your paying customers happy. And it wouldnt cost you a dime (except maybe the cost of a few laptops needed to post).
You have a great product, and I hate to see it treated this way. Take a stroll on any MMO forum board. The one's that succeed are the one's where the developers (or their token interns) post and communicate constantly.
Please do not take this as more flaming, but as a constuctive plea for more attention.

I'd volunteer in a second, plus as an intern they could shut me up...
