So why now?
Well, the main reason is the Character Builder. I never really was sold on paying a monthly charge for the two "magazines" and some bonus tools. I was optimistic about D&Di, but the content available just wasn't for me. Then, I got my hands on the Character Builder. This is the cream of the crop, extensive, powerful online tools I was anticipating when D&Di was announced. And, basically, it sold me.
I was planning to wait until they released the full 30 levels of content, but decided I would go ahead and lock in the $5 a month price point since the price is expected to go up once the Character Builder is released in full "very early next year".
What can I say? I'm happy with my subscription, I get to download a couple magazines every month, use the wonderful compendium and bonus tools, and wait eagerly for the full version of the Character Builder to release. I'll cross my fingers in hopes of seeing the Visualizer and the Game Table next year.
