For whatever reason, Community Management thinks that the VCLs are doing a good job and want to reward us.

Initial suggestions that I put forward were all rejected. Something about not possible (monkeys with wings, sharks with laser beams), not legal (lots and lots of money) nor humanly possible (convince my wife to start collecting me a harem). Thus, they gave us the option of having a custom avatar.

This is where I turn to you. For the next week, I will take suggestions for my custom avatar. The week after that, I will conduct a poll where *you guys and gals* will choose my custom avatar for me.

Here are the rules:
  • Good taste;
  • Follows the CoC;
  • Not someone else's copyright; and
  • the smaller of 80x80 pixels or 19.5 kb. (I can play with this if necessary, but would rather not)

Combine all of the above ideas into a single image...a harem of monkeys with laser beams.

Good idea, do you have an image of that somewhere??

Just to clarify things. I have the artistic talent of a rock, or perhaps a particularly energetic pile of moss.

Links good.
Asking me to draw, bad.

I'd be all for you using the avatar you have on your personal blog, MB.

I think its fitting for forum use. ;)

I like that avatar, and I'm all for consistency, but as a VCL, you can draw heat.

That avatar might add a negative flavor to your posts that they don't deserve (as you are almost always evenminded and kind, even when you disagree).

I suggest something funny...I'll look into it.

I think its fitting for forum use.

Maybe a little TOO fitting.

Bad idea.

As it stands many think you work for WotC.
You do have some moderator rights.
To use that image implies threat might be behind your public posts.

If you really need an evil image, go with a bunny or something humorous is my advice. Of course I would not care that you used an image or not as I try my best with settings not to see any of them.

I went bunny searching and the best I can find is under "March Hare".

One option is to get your kids a stuffed bunny that you like and take an amusing picture of the bunny. You could even do a few like the "travelling garden gnome" if you are able to continually update your avatar as you like.

Failing that check out these links. You'd probably just have to ask the artist's permission to use it (and might not have to do that...I dunno).

Nice suggestions so far.

Aberzanzorax, Kentinal, thanks for the insight on the possible negative side-effects of me using my blog Avatar for my CA here. It is much appreciated.

The violent bunny ones might be, well, a bit too violent for WotC to allow as a CA. Although it would rock if they would allow me to use something from Monty Python's Quest for the Holy Grail as an avatar.

The other ones just didn't strike me much.

How about these:

I so vote for the Pierce Brosnan as James Bond one.

Now if someone can photoshop it to have bunny ears, THAT would be perfect!

Aberzanzorax, you are my hero!

Now, if we can just convince everyone else on the boards that mudbunny absolutely HAS to use this as his custom avatar, we're in business.

while i like the theme of "my name is bunny, mudbunny", the imagesize is to small for such a complex picture on it. if you really want something the people remember, you should go with something simple and colorful. fantasy related would be best. you could e.g. take one of the banners published in various WOTC books, like the lyrandar one from eberron:

I vote for either 2 or 4.

I actually like 4 the most, but there's nothing that makes it clear that it is a "custom" avatar, which is half the coolness of the concept.

I'd totally vote for 4 with some swanky text that said either a witty phrase or just "Mudbunny!" or even "Mudbunny, Oh yeah!"

I vote for number 2 (of course) and will forever think of that picture when I see one of your posts regardless of which avatar is chosen.

But then again I may have some psychoses issues....

I will try that at home with a image program that is more sophisticated than Paint, which is all my work computer has.

Any decisions yet?

If it were possible, if you could get the current avatar as a custom avatar (i.e. not available to the rest of us) that might be the best choice.
