Customizations?

How do you customize things with the new builder, like:

* I gave a player a bonus feat
* I use a homebrew pantheon and want to customize a god's name
* I make custom magic items and want to give them to players

You know, everywhere a little houserule icon appeared in the old builder?

I think the new interface is nice and all, but it's impossible for me to use it without the ability to reflect my campaign in it.  I thought the old app did this "ok" but did this really get removed?  I hope not, for it becomes completely useless to every DM I know without the ability to customize names, items, and builds?

Right now you can't, pretty much.

Yeah when they said no support for houserules, I was expecting not being able to rename items or change discriptions, but not even being able to give extra feats or languages, so change you point buy value, etc. That was a surprise. The old builders support for houserules was pretty poor but this is draconian in it's implentation of the rules as written (except where it doesn't work).

Pretty sad really.  I had high hopes.  The best thing about D&D (including 4e) is that it isn't a video game - specifically, you have a human being processing actions instead of a computer.  Without the ability to be flexible with my players, the game would lose value.

No worries though, just back to paper characters for me.  Kinda nostalgic doing that anyways!

I still have high hopes.  Granted, this current beta that is in production falls way short of what it needs to be, I still have high hopes that it wil dramatically improve in the coming months.

My expectations are not as high as my hopes, though.

I'm sure it will eventually support just about everything the old builder did.

However, to quote a cartoon dinosaur, eventually can be a long time.
