| #5ulic_qel-dromaFeb 09, 2009 22:22:41 | Well I'm a subscriber and I opened the Character builder and it won't install the update. I'm sure its a Vista issue. |
| #6Hocus-SmokusFeb 09, 2009 22:28:15 | Well I'm a subscriber and I opened the Character builder and it won't install the update. I have Vista, am a DDI subscriber, and it works fine. I'm not sure what to tell you. You should really try to get a hold of Customer Service via the telephone enumbers they have. Also, check the DDI threads further down...they address many of these same issues. |

| #8mudbunnyFeb 09, 2009 23:16:14 | Well I'm a subscriber and I opened the Character builder and it won't install the update. What is the error that it gives you when you try to update the Character Builder?? Go to the thread here, and post the problems that you are having. CS is watching the thread and helping people. |
| #9DevoDogFeb 10, 2009 7:55:01 | Well I'm a subscriber and I opened the Character builder and it won't install the update. Uninstall your current version. Delete any "wizards" folder that are empty. Download and install the new version. I run XP. Uninstalling alone didn't work....I needed to delete the old folder that was created as well and the new version installed like a charm. |
| #10malkav666Feb 10, 2009 8:20:39 | Well I'm a subscriber and I opened the Character builder and it won't install the update. The two most common issues I have seen with character builder are .net issues and time/date issues. But if you have .net framework installed (which I am guessing you do since you can open the builder and do levels 1-3), then it is likely an update issue. 1. Make sure the date on your computer is correct. I had my date rolled back several years to get free antivirus updates and I had to change it back to the correct date to get DDI to update correctly. So have a gander at it. The time does not have to be correct, But they day/month/year do for your computer to validate with the DDI update server. 2. Make sure your account has administrative rights (or at least the right to install software). 3.Make sure you are working with the official release and not the demo version (uninstall what you have and install the version currently on the insider website under the character builder section). 4. Check that thread that was linked they have a Dev in there offering up assistance and there are some detailed instructions with pictures on how to to delete keys and work other acts of technology magic to try and get it to work. love, malkav |
