#1 General_Felire Nov 08, 2009 16:46:33	Okay, so I was thinking on getting a friend of mine a subscription to D&D Insider. I personally have one, and I think he would enjoy it. That said, I am not aware of how I would go about doing such a thing. Is there a way for me to directly buy the subscription and then have wizards give them the membership information, or would it make more sense for me to just give him the money and then have him go and buy it - though that seems less gifty than if I bought the gift for him in the first place. Any information on this would be helpful. Thank you very much.

#3 Ash2Dust Nov 08, 2009 21:31:51	The only thing I could think of for right now is give them the money and say, "get DDI with this." You could transfer money into a paypal account for them to use, give them the cash, or use one of those visa or mastercard gift cards that work anywhere that takes a credit card.

Think about it, someone gets a month/three month/year from the one gifting it to them, then they get to see if they like it.  If the person who got the DDI gift likes it, then they'll probably continue to keep up the subscription.  Its actually not a bad marketing tactic either. Maybe one way to do this is by using something similar to a gift card.  A user could log on, pay for everything, choose a gift option and input the mailing address.  The information to log on would be contained in the mailed DDI card that would humbly show up at the users door step in time to save Christmas Day! It wouldn't even have to be a gift card either, all the mailed material would have to contain was the necessary information.  Of course, with all those artists out there it would be cool to have something Holiday-ish on it!
#5 bss Nov 08, 2009 21:44:41	I have been looking for this, to get Insider for one or two of my players, for a while. It's a nice gift, and to WotC's benefit, it helps keep a customer "sticky" if they get used to the Builder, articles, etc. I think it'd be a great thing to add.
#6 General_Felire Nov 08, 2009 23:42:25	I very much appreciate the postitive feed back on this. Any comments on the best way to do this is very helpful. I also like the fact that maybe in time Wizards will actually implement this so that its possible. I am lucky, thi si snot a Christmass present but a 21st birthday present and so I still have some time. So if they create it in time for either Christmass or early next year I can use it and get what I want. I really do think the benefits of this would be far reaching. I think a lot of people would choose to purchase it. And once you have it, most people would feel they should continue it, especially if they really enjoyed it. Even if they don't pay for the length that they got as the gift. Anyway, I hope to hear further develops on this, which I hope develops. And worst comes to worst, I will give my friend the money through paypal and they can use that to pay the site - even though it doesn't seem gifty (as I said in my origional post, lol).

#10 Sands666 Dec 18, 2009 16:30:45	None that I know of.  I actually messaged a couple of the guys here at Wizards personally about this thread.  The holiday bundle seems to be their solution to the DDI gifting idea, since it includes $12 off a subscription to DDI.
