#1 toastee Jul 09, 2010 10:38:02	I for one am begining to get a little distraught with the D&D Insider subscription. I do enjoy the Character Builder and it does save a tremendous amount of time for new players, but I also find it fun (and educational) to do it manualy. So although the Chracter Builder is a wonderful tool, it is hardly worth the constant stream of money leaving my bank account and in to Wizards'. The Adventure Tools however is extremely useful, and in it's concept, well worth money...if they just finished it! In its current state, it is still nothing that I can't get out of the books, or quickly mock up on my own. In fact, in the time it takes to boot my computer, log in and create a new monster I could have created it while I am drawing my map and writing the plot on paper. Do not get me wrong, I am willing to pay the money for a subscription of tools that are finished and well designed. And I understand that it takes time to do so. But what has been? 2 years? My tools have not changed much in the past 8 months! When am I going to see a map creator (I would imagine using the tile sets at the very least?) When will images be included in the Monster Builder? What about an encounter creator? A plot mapper? A campaign tool? It really seems that Wizards has left us in the dust when it comes to their commitment to their subscribers. I do value the access to Dungeon and Dragon magazine, but honestly, these tools were created for someone who has little time to do anything but run a weekly campaign and I rarely look at those issues and all their content is in the tools anyway. The economy is on the rise, and Wizards I am sure will be expanding soon. So will someone please tell me when we will see an updated version of the Adventure Tools? I am very close to cancelling my subscription and telling all my friends to do the same, until this happens at the very least.
#2 modern_iconoclast Jul 09, 2010 11:08:23	I would suggest you stop the yearly subscription, and get the DDi content only a couple of months a year. Wait for the content to be appropriate for you, pay for that month only. No need to pay every month really. I am waiting to get a DDi subscription from since it first came out. Although I find the idea really interesting, for now the content does not reach out to me. I'm a DM and rarely create characters (and prefer it the pen+paper way anyway) so what there for now does not interest me in the least. I'll wait for more features (if more features come out that is).

#4 argy Jul 09, 2010 13:04:05	I cancelled already, I only got it recently.   The tools that they promised 2 years ago, what happened to them?   Then you get a good tool like Masterplan and Wizards shuts it down even though they don't even provide that type of functionality.   Its ridiculous.
#5 Artifact Jul 09, 2010 13:05:39	The 'power pack' articles are what's draining my patience.  The material is written (apparently) so it can be easily ported (as crunch) to the Character Builder, no muss, no fuss.  Its mostly dull and boring, not something I would read as a pastime.  Its only fun when I see something I just gotta have for a PC or a game (which is rare). I've been a longtime, loyal reader of Dragon/Dungeon.  I bought the mags off the newstand month after month, never missed a single issue for years.  The ezines are a different now though; they're not bad, they're just not good for me ;).   So, I'll let my D&DI sub expire next April, maybe update a few times over the year.  Maybe a new book will catch my eye; if I don't buy the hardcover (I don't always), a D&DI update might do.  Or, maybe a new Adventure Tool will debut.  Who knows?  I can't really justify a yearly subscription right now though (even though I think the cost is reasonable). /\ Art
