| #1Kilsek_of_SheverashApr 06, 2010 17:45:50 | You guys see these at all? Freaking amazing, just gorgeous. Full color PDF Character Sheets, complete with character art! So yeah... after feasting my eyes on the full color 2-page pdf's of the PHB3 Worldwide Gameday pregen characters pdf's, you can go ahead and throw the existing black-and-white blocky blah-fest CB character sheet utterly right in the garbage. Any chance a souped-up "it's 2010, not 1990" character sheet in the mold of the 2010 D&D Worldwide Gameday pregens is coming to the CB? Pleeeeeease!!! ![]() |

| #3AcryliumApr 07, 2010 3:41:00 | I honestly admit likeing the 1990-style-b/w-character-sheets... |
| #4sheolausApr 07, 2010 6:01:37 | Just looking on the wiki site: community.wizards.com/dndgameday/gallery... Full size some of the pics there, I'd put some directly on here but they're huuuuuuge edit: here's a pic www.livingdice.com/wp-content/uploads/20... |

I'd accept it if you could choose to do a printout like that..but..while they are very pretty they are greatly lacking in space for information...and information in general. Trust me I've played with them as, I think, level 1 chars....maybe up to level 3..either way they had to leave out some info in order to make sure the characters would fit on the sheet. They are pretty..and do some things right, but they need a serious overhaul before we should think to use them ourselves. |
| #6Kilsek_of_SheverashApr 07, 2010 11:16:11 | If the D&D Miniatures game found a way to put every D&D stat on a single side of a tiny Magic-card sized card at one point, I'm sure they could find a way to do a 1 page double-sided full-color elegant PC sheet - at least for heroic play. I can see Paragon and Epic needing more unfortunately, but as an entry point or a simpler game in Heroic tier, I absolutely see this as the new gold standard character sheet. 2010 is the year of hooking new players into D&D right? More and more of us - especially younger generations - are highly visual learners and people... I mean, it makes perfect sense! Again, this sheet is gorgeous and makes the current CB sheet look like an archaic, bland, ugly mistake! |

| #8Kilsek_of_SheverashApr 07, 2010 13:37:30 | Sorry I completely forgot that sparkles is more important than information. Right, because I explicitly said I didn't want information and detail on them? Oh wait, no I didn't :P I understand they're not perfect, I specifically said there's certainly ways to get on all the info you need. Some of it's as simple as font size changes to small character sheet design changes. Let's not pretend it's some massive undertaking to make a more modern, yet both effective and aesthetic sheet - because it's not. |
| #9digglesApr 07, 2010 13:37:55 | I'd rather have WoTC release a character creator like Cyptic uses in their games like Champions online, so I can make a portrait thats just right for my character. |
| #10Kilsek_of_SheverashApr 07, 2010 13:43:01 | I'd rather have WoTC release a character creator like Cyptic uses in their games like Champions online, so I can make a portrait thats just right for my character. A 3-D model for a background would also be awesome, agreed. I guess what I'm getting at is 1) the current CB sheet is woefully bland and inadequate, and 2) we need more modern yet effective options for digital character sheets. |
| #11Stafir_OrtnevApr 07, 2010 16:16:48 | Sorry I completely forgot that sparkles is more important than information. Didn't read a post somewhere I guess...I said I don't like them because they don't present enough information and they need a serious overhaul. Your response pretty much amounted to "but they're pretty and shiney so we should use them!". So yes your response did state you didn't care about information, when you dismissed it so easily. And even those D&D miniature cards you mentioned..did not show every bit of important info about a char. Again I'm ok with them being an option to print out, but I want the old char sheets in there as well, as the old char sheets actually presents the info needed. |
| #12tibisApr 07, 2010 19:07:37 | I'm in the "function over flash" crowd as well, to be honest. People complain that the current CB sheets are hard on ink, with the black borders etc. Those would be a nightmare. |
| #13Kilsek_of_SheverashApr 07, 2010 22:42:28 | I'm in the "function over flash" crowd as well, to be honest. People complain that the current CB sheets are hard on ink, with the black borders etc. Those would be a nightmare. I can understand that. At the same time, I like playing using my laptop, so ink's not usually going to be a concern for digital play. I guess the one thing we can all agree on is: we need more and better CB character sheet styles to choose from! |
| #14AcryliumApr 08, 2010 13:39:41 | I wan't functionality and not some pretty pictures which anyway couldn't be compared to the picture of my character in my own imagination. |
| #15digglesApr 08, 2010 16:31:41 | we need more and better CB character sheet styles to choose from! Could someone just make a program to parse a standard sheet (pdf) and throw the values into a new custom format that lets you do whatever you want? I havent really looked at the custom sheets because I'd have to spend time importing them in from CB. |
| #16crayneApr 09, 2010 4:03:53 | If you play dnd on any kind of PC or laptop, you could upload the .dnd4e file to iplay4e.appspot.com and look at it there. The site offers two kind of character views (which could be printed), "print using shados sheet generator" (which seems to be currently down) or export as XML, so it can be imported at other places. |
| #17AcryliumApr 09, 2010 6:29:23 | Playing on any electronic device (PC, Laptop or even iPad) counts as an critical hit on ambiance and gaming atmosphere... ![]() |
| #18amatorApr 09, 2010 14:04:13 | As I've posted before, I am definitely in favor of WotC giving us this format as an *option*. While they may not have all the information for a campaign character, they are wonderful for pregens for Dungeon Delves and other one-shot adventures. They would also be great for new players as the information flow is a little better on these than on the standard sheet. |
