| #1father_rahlJun 08, 2008 15:07:29 | I was on the wizards website for D&D and i subscribed to gleemax for D&Di, mainly for the character builder and i cannot figure out how to access the character builder so if anyone could explain to me how i can use it, i'd be grateful. |
| #2Kensan_OniJun 08, 2008 15:09:46 | The Character Builder is not available yet. You're going to have to hold on like the rest of us. ![]() |
| #3sironaJun 08, 2008 15:11:31 | Sigh. The more posts I see like this from new members signing up for D&Di, the bigger a PR disaster this entire thing is becoming. =\ |
| #4father_rahlJun 08, 2008 15:14:13 | I'm sorry about this post, I'm not trying to annoy or make anyone angry, I just had no idea that the character builder was unavailable. I apologize for any inconvenience I've caused. |
| #5sironaJun 08, 2008 15:16:19 | No, don't worry. It's not your fault. xD With how Wizards has advertised it's only natural that new players would show up wanting to know where everything is. I'm only saying with their advertising and making -nothing- available, they're alienating more and more people that are just getting into 4e and coming on to wonder where the hell everything even is. |
| #6KentinalJun 08, 2008 15:22:01 | Sigh. The more posts I see like this from new members signing up for D&Di, the bigger a PR disaster this entire thing is becoming. =\ Hmm, there is a bit of a trade off here. In the old days when I had to walk to school 10 miles, uphill both ways, barefooted in the snow I was honored to be able to go to school. [1], I learned to read before saying something. If the new generation would read thread titles and/or the entire thread there would not be so many people asking the same question. The lack of reading bothers me, often seeing the same question I get temped to post already asked and answered here. OTOH because users are not taking much time to look clearly adds to WotC seeing how many people are less then thrilled. [1] I only had to walk 9/10ths of a mile each way, it was uphill half the way, I had shoes and there was not always snow to be walked in. In general I did enjoy school for the learning though other parts of school environment at one point had me considering becoming a drop out. |
| #7uxceaxJun 08, 2008 15:51:13 | I know the Character Builder is not working yet so my question is does anyone know when it will be available? |
| #8Logic512Jun 08, 2008 16:03:45 | It's not about taking the time to read something, it's about time management. If someone can type 10 words of text and go do something else while waiting for an answer it makes them efficient, not lazy. If you don't like them posting a question you already know the answer to be aware that you are the one with a problem, not them. |
| #9KentinalJun 08, 2008 16:05:47 | I know the Character Builder is not working yet so my question is does anyone know when it will be available? As it stands right now official position is: It will be released when it is ready. One announcement indicates the "hope" all tools will be up before the end of this year (2008). |
| #10sironaJun 08, 2008 16:06:21 | Besides, with more people making their own posts instead of reading quietly, Wizards might see the flood and admit they botched this up big time. ;D |
| #11wellsJun 08, 2008 16:07:11 | I hope it comes out for Mac OS as well. |

Oh people posting from work and do not want to be caught or just people that do not want to do their homework? Best use of time for them, bad use of the time of us that have to read repeated 10 word posts taking our time away from moving forward. It clearly is efficient for one person, but infers with efficiency of the group. If individual matters most so be it. |
| #13uxceaxJun 08, 2008 16:20:26 | Thank you for the info on possible release times ![]() |
| #14justinlJun 08, 2008 16:25:27 | Well to be honest I never really used the Wizard site for anything more then to find out about modules. By the time we got a sizable group playing 3e and then 3.5, there were already character generators and builders etc. I picked up 4e and said to myself, "Hey this all pretty exciting and I bet WotC has some downloadable/printable character sheets or maybe even a generator." Anyway, I was quite surprised to find their forums ablaze with the release of 4e, the response seems to be massive, so maybe WotC didn't expect such? I'll look forward to D&Di releasing these things, especially sicne my group will be moving on to 4e, but I can't help but wonder if we will see a homebrew generator / prog first. |
| #15bluebacker63Jun 08, 2008 20:07:28 | Hmm, there is a bit of a trade off here. Easy now! With the release of 4e you may have some folks coming here that are new to forums / boards. Your ease of use and navigation skills are to be commended but, in the end, what difference does it really make if same/similar questions are posted? I hope Ken Troop has to read everyone of them...twice. Give the board time and it'll mature. |

| #17KentinalJun 08, 2008 20:36:49 | Easy now! The forums are a nightmare to navigate, the reorganization clearly not helping. The only difference of repeated questions is one of bandwidth (that most do not appear to care about) and waste of my time (which likely no one cares about *wink*) Indeed I do hope Mr. Troop will read everything posted since that one and only post, however I suspect that even reading that never ending thread will take most of his time to compose a comprehensive reply. It would be nice to know he has read the boards since, if not before, becoming employed by WotC. Give the board time? *blink- The board/forums is just coding, members are what provide content, rants, flames and opinions. The newer members finding this section perhaps I set a too high a hope, but I was expressing a hope/desire for me not to reread the answered question. Today I have the time to reply to some of them and believe that I needed to reply to you to answer you. |
