#1 kyros_tachyus Apr 12, 2009 2:51:48	In light of all of the questions and (sometimes) misconceptions about D&Di as of now, it has been decided that it is about time for this post to be here. Let’s start out with the big questions: 1) What is D&Di? Dungeons and Dragons Insider (or D&Di) is a suite of tools for players and DMs and the two e-magazines, Dungeon and Dragon. These tools are made to complement 4e D&D, and in general aren’t compatible with any previous edition of D&D. For more information on what comes with DDi, see #4. 2) How do I subscribe? To subscribe to D&Di, access the Dungeons & Dragons homepage. Click the scroll on the right-hand side of the screen that says "Subscribe - D&D Insider, Help Shape the Game". From there, choose a subscription option: one, three, or twelve months. After this, you will be lead to the purchase summary page and can then proceed to checkout. There you will be prompted for payment information. 3) How much does it cost? For a 12 month subscription, D&Di costs $59.40, which winds up being $4.95 per month. One can buy 3 months for $19.95, which works out to be $6.65 per month. The last option is the monthly rate of $ 7.95 per month. (You will need to read the Wizards of the Coast EULA to continue). 4) What do I get? As of now, the entire suite of tools has yet to come out. The tools that are available through D&Di now are the Compendium, the Character Builder, and both Dungeon & Dragon magazines. In addition to those tools, one also gets several bonus tools: The Encounter Builder, Monster Builder, and Ability Generator. 5) What about the Game Table/Character Visualizer and the other tools? Currently there is no official word on the status of the Virtual Game Table, Character Visualizer, or Dungeon Builder. 6) How soon do I get access once I subscribe? Once one subscribes, they will need to log out and restart their browser for the ID to take effect. Make sure you have cookies enabled also. 7) How often are Compendium/Character Builder updated? They are updated on the fourth Tuesday of every month. 8) Why are there two e-magazines? What is the difference between them? Dungeon magazine is primarily for Dungeon Masters, but ideas for players can be found there. The articles in Dungeon assist DMs with problems they may be facing in their games and offer new ideas and adventures to challenge their players. Dragon is primarily for the players, but DMs can find things to spur on and offer their players here. Dragon features a variety of articles to give players ideas, new character concepts, new feats, and many other things to entice and inspire players.
