Jul 30, 2008 14:50:36 Everyone has done a great job with the D&Di Community FAQ. It's very expansive and covers almost everything that's ever been said on D&Di.

I was wondering if the community could help in coming up with a condensed version that would allow those new to D&Di and the community a chance to get their 8 - 10 most frequently asked questions answered.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Which of these are new to D&Di questions?:

What is D&Di?
Where are the applications?
How much will it cost?
It says I need to login, how do I setup a login?
What applications are downloadable?
What applications are subscription only?
When does the subscription period start?
Does everyone of my players need a subscription?
Why doesn't the Rules Compendium have combat rules?
How often will the Compendium be updated?
When do the new articles for the two magazines come out?
Are the magazines downloadable?

These are just a few I could think of quickly, but unless we know what questions you are looking for it will be hard to nail down a condensed version of the current FAQ.

- How do I use D&Di?
- Where is D&Di?
- What things are available right now?
- When will other applications be ready?
- How much will it cost?

Things along those lines.

D&D Insider (D&Di) is located on the D&D website. You can access the what is available or find out about the applications by visiting http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/insider or clicking on the button labeled D&D Insider on the D&D website.

- How do I use D&Di?

First you need to login, found in the upper right corner of the page. The login for the D&Di is the same as the login for the forums, so if you have a forums account you already have a D&Di account as well.

Once you've logged in you can access the current Dragon and Dungeon articles available or launch the Rules Compendium. (.... Work in progress...)

- What things are available right now?

The Rules Compendium as well as Dragon issues 364 & 365 and Dungeon issues 155 and 156 are available as of July 30th.

- When will other applications be ready?

The other applications will be released when WotC feels that they are ready for the public. The application closest to release is the Character Visualizer, followed by the Character Builder, then the Dungeon Builder and Game Table. In an interview, Chris Youngs stated that the goal was to have all the applications out before the end of the year (2008).

- How much will it cost?

The current pricing model is $14.95 for a one month subscription, $38.85 (12.95 per month) for a 3 month subscription and $119.40 ($9.95 per month) for a one year subscription.

What are the (expected) system requirements for D&Di?

The current recommended system requirements for the D&Di are as follows:

The current recommended system requirements for the D&Di are as follows:
OS XP SP2
Memory 512 MB
CPU Intel P4 2.6 GHz or AMD XP 2400+
GPU Memory 128 MB
Fill Rate 1600 MTx
Shader 2.0

There is currently no support for Macintosh OS.

These requirements can be found here: D&Di System Requirements. The minimum system requirements have not been released yet, only the recommended.

There can not really be any newbie guide, until the apps are complete.

The only answer really at this time is:

-Rules Compendium has some bits of rules in it that are not updated in real time with Dragon and Dungeon or errata.

-All other applications in the suite are not ready and have yet to been beta tested.

What other newbie guide can you have until WE know more about these things and get a chance to use them to make a guide form?
