#1 mystraca Oct 16, 2008 18:18:47	Is it just me or did all of the semi-interesting content on the dnd website that has been free for years just get relabeled as "Dnd insider" and now has a monthly fee? The only things left for free are basically advertisements (previews) for up coming products. Do you remember all the web-enhancements and elite opponents? That kind of content has been almost non-existent since 4e was released. Switching topics slightly to the E-zines. I can appreciate dungeon magazine and dragon magazine having a monthly charge for them. I cherry picked a few issues from my local hobby shops when they seemed to have content that looked interesting. But the amount of content found in the new e-zines has been minimal compared to what used to be available in the real magazines. I would say that you would be lucky to make one issue between what both are now. Now that it has a fee is the amount of content going to increase? Now, about the tools, I really was excited about a year ago when talk of a DND game table. So far i have been disapointed by the current time frames of those products and the currently released ones quality. I understand why they have to be called bonus tools. They are barely useful at the best of times, the compendium doesn't even work to try and search for a list of anything (Examples: I wonder what all the epic destinies are? Paragon Paths? Only content from Dragon?) Why are we now 6 months behind the release of a character generator? They had one for free with the 3.5 PHB. Can we plan on an interface more intuitive than the M:tg online toolset? Is releasing 1-30 really that much more difficult than the planned 1-3? All and all i just have to say i have been very disappointed with the direction and action of the dnd website that has taken place over the past year.
#2 Kensan_Oni Oct 16, 2008 22:03:43	Well, as far as the Character Generator goes, I am sure the problem is with all the bells and whistles it's suppose to have (Searchable database of public character sheets (And the Public Server that they have to build for that), compatability with Game Table software, Updating with auto-patching, so on), rather then just the generator itself. The generator part is done, after all. But yeah, I agree with most everything you said, generally, but I have a few additional complaints... but you know, I've voiced them. They went unheaded and were shouted down, so whatever. Let the Majority get a product at a price way inflated over industry standards. It's not like there is anything in the magazines that I won't either acquire when the real books come out, or I can't make up or do better myself.
