D&Di on multiple computers?

Dec 24, 2009 22:58:29 If I sign up for D&Di and install the character builder and any other programs on my PC, can I also install them on my laptop too or do I have to pick one or the other? (don't have a laptop now, but I will in a month or so... just don't want to sign up yet if I can't put the programs on both)

Dec 25, 2009 3:30:18 You can use the DDI tools on 5 computers without a problem. The limit is based on the updates, you can only update 5 times a months, on five different computers. After one month, the count resets. The other content (the magazines, for example) can be used anywhere.

Dec 27, 2009 8:06:42 That was one of the deciding factors for me and my group to subscribe. With the number of books become so large its becoming difficult to find and keep track of everything at the table without it.

better don't say this too publicly... because officially, as per the Terms of Use of DDI, you are not legally granted the right to use it on various computers. technically, it works, and there's that wink-wink-nudge-nudge attitude of it being OK to use on different computers, even if they are not your own - but i would not bet my money on WOTC making a change of plans, as they have proven in the last 2 years that they do that rather often, and independently from what R&D, the DDI team, or even some of their vicepresidents believe to be the next course of action.

If you knew as many PC-unsavy people as I do, you would not have to ask. :-) Five is just the next best sounding number next to only one, and two. It was always pretty clear to me, that they did this to relax CS a bit - because many people would need more than the typical 1/month update they'd be getting due to computer problems.

Heck, I've known a girl (long time ago though), that managed to uninstall her Word three times - accidentally!
