#1 avendesora Sep 04, 2009 18:52:26	In the opening of Shadow Rift of Umbraforge, it says "In Siege of Bordrin’s Watch, the PCs discovered that dark creepers had sold arms and tactical intelligence to the orc war chief Tusk, aiding him in his attack against the folk of the Stonehome Mountains."  When does this happen?  Just by the presence of the Dark One Emissary?  Is that supposed to be the Emissary from Sinruth's letter in Castle Rivenroar?  I'm missing something.  Please help.  Thanks.

#3 avendesora Sep 05, 2009 0:02:06	Interesting.  Thanks for your help.  Well, I'm running the second half of Siege of Bordrin's Watch tomorrow night and need to decide how to play it.  What did other do?  Ignore the Dark One Emissary?  Play it up as a minion of Modra, who apparently is a minion of Sarshan (who I'm making a rakshasa, by the way)?  Or play him up big and let the PCs get confused later?  Any advice would be helpful.  Thanks.
#4 Misroi Sep 07, 2009 23:58:57	I took a middle road.  I didn't play him up too greatly, other than having the orcs address him as "Emissary," which meant one person who paid attention got where I was going.  I think it's a magician's dilemma: you want to draw attention to what you're doing without letting people know you're trying to draw attention to it.  Just know how astute your players are, and adjust to that.  If they're the "kick-in-the-door, plot-is-secondary" style, you might need to be a bit more heavy-handed.  If they invest in the game, and pay attention to clues you hand out, you might want to play it softer.
#5 PinkRose Oct 15, 2009 3:41:34	I hope it's not too late but a couple of things will break the rest of SOW if you do things your way. You need Sarshan to not be a Rakshasa, he needs to be Shadow-born or things get wonky. And Modra does work for Sarshan, or did, but he's nw doing things on his own. And  the Dark One Emissary IS working for Modra. And he needs to have a key. At someone else's suggestion, I'm going to make him a her and the wife of Modra.

#7 PinkRose Oct 16, 2009 15:23:12	Because a whole chuck of the upcoming adventures are shadowfell related. And, well, Rakshasa aren't. I mean, you can do what you want, but be aware that making Sarshan a Rakshasa will change future events in the campaign.
#8 rachweded Oct 16, 2009 16:25:10	more to the point a lot of the things sarshan does and traps around his locale attack all non-shadow types. this only works if he is a shadarkai or similar. handwave away is possible, depends on group though
