| #1sean215bAug 16, 2009 6:35:02 | apologies if this has already been covered somewhere, but I was having a look at the D&D Compendium trial (I'm not currently a D&DI subscriber) and did a search on the Compendium for a creature of "orc" (nice and generic) - 63 creatures. Then narrowed it down to source = miniatures, and this is where it all began to break down. gripe #1: This gave only ONE result, being Orc Terrorblade from the Dangerous Delves set. I'm fairly sure that there are about 30 Orc miniatures out there. In fact, let me just check - yeh, searched on http://www.ddmdb.com/search and it brought back a whole heap of orc entries. True, it brought back everything for half orc, and orcus as well, but at least the search worked. I had a similar experience when I tried to search for Goblin, figuring maybe there was just something wrong with the orcs, but still only got one result. A regular DDI user may know better - perhaps they have only loaded in Dangerous Delves so far? gripe #2: and this is the one I was originally posting about, when I click on orc terrorblade, it gives me the stat block for the entry, in Monster Manual style (which is great), but no picture of the miniature etc? I thought that would have been logical... I'd like to see a tool for the miniatures line, similar to that at www.ddmdb.com where I can search on miniatures - so if I want to run an adventure with a bunch of orcs in it, I can run a search on "orc", source = "miniatures" and get a search result of the orc miniatures with pics back so I can choose which one suits the guys I want to run. anyway, thats my thoughts... if this is fixed/active if you are a subscriber to DDI, please let me know! The Terrorblade is the first miniature for an Orc to be stated for the miniatures first. Personally I just look at the stats of the orcs and put the closest miniature on the table as appropriate. Most of them simply do not match with anything anymore so it doesn't really matter. Now if they started producing the originally proposed (way way back) ecnotuner groups I'd be much happier. |
| #3Dane_McArdyAug 16, 2009 7:35:16 | They might do something with mini's in the Monster Builder, such as bring up the art for any mini's that might be appropriate for the monster, or the one you are creating. |
| #4whitebaronAug 16, 2009 8:05:00 | i believe they won't do such a thing ever - as it would bring out the obvious fact, that about 90% of the monsters would be missing from the miniatures line. not that this is a bad thing in itself (noone would buy thousands of minis just like that), but making this obvious via a graphical tool, is probably not in their best business interest. also, from my experience thus far, D&D gamers and DDM gamers usually are not the same group of customers. their change in the product line might put it more into the same direction, but that's something we'll have to see in the future. still, displaying the same two minis for orcs everytime is likely to have a bad effect on sales, and not a good one. |
| #5Dane_McArdyAug 16, 2009 8:45:50 | And I believe that someone from WoTC has already said that a mini tracker in the Monster Builder is a great idea. |
| #6whitebaronAug 16, 2009 10:12:13 | And I believe that someone from WoTC has already said that a mini tracker in the Monster Builder is a great idea. well, but that's a different beast. tracking your own minis is an entirely different task. also, if you give such statements, you'd better back them up - because belief is only helpful in church. we want facts if you present them like this, not your opinion, which you presented before already. |

I guess I was presenting facts, and not opinion. Gee willikers! |
| #8koukAug 16, 2009 12:45:27 | I am not an expert when it comes to the miniatures lines, but I thought that most cards that came with the miniatures were intended to represent preexisting monsters' statistics (except where typo'd). If someone knows for sure, are there really many unique monsters, first introduced via miniatures cards? (Some may have appeared before their books, like some from Monster Manual 2.) |
| #9whitebaronAug 17, 2009 16:00:47 | http://forums.gleemax.com/showpost.php?p=19022693&postcount=197 once again, you're trying to subvert your original post with something you wrote later to prove that you were right "from the start". in the first post, which i commented to, it was about bringing up images for all monsters. you replied that a mini tracker is a good idea, even according to scott rouse. well, those two are different. you're trying to prove a point with arguments that do have nothing to do with what i said. re-read my post if you're that hard pressed to devalue my original post. oh, and by the way: i wrote that you should post where you get your facts from, not that i do not believe you. you should really try and READ some of the posts before you reply in blind hatred towards those that have a more controversial attitude towards ddi. |

| #11Dane_McArdyAug 17, 2009 20:58:52 | You know, I proposed it before you did, but you got all the credit. :P I also encouraged you to post it over in the proper thread. Thanks for the living example of doing the right thing, by not =). Heck, I even said someone else proposed it originally. |
| #12Dane_McArdyAug 17, 2009 21:01:03 | once again, you're trying to subvert your original post with something you wrote later to prove that you were right "from the start". Get off it. You were wrong, I was right, and everything in this response is bollocks. |
| #13aliothefoolAug 17, 2009 21:47:52 | I also encouraged you to post it over in the proper thread. Heh, it's all good. I don't care who gets credit for it, as long as it happens! ;) |
| #14ranadielAug 18, 2009 4:46:04 | Get off it. You were wrong, I was right, and everything in this response is bollocks. I see absolutely nothing incorrect with Whitebaron's initial posts. I think you just need to calm down a little bit. |
| #15Dane_McArdyAug 18, 2009 5:38:03 | I see absolutely nothing incorrect with Whitebaron's initial posts. I think you just need to calm down a little bit. If I was worked up, I would of had a much longer response. He's still wrong. He's thinks if he can change what I said, which he can't. It's pretty clear what I said. |
| #16whitebaronAug 18, 2009 5:55:23 | I see absolutely nothing incorrect with Whitebaron's initial posts. I think you just need to calm down a little bit. dane is just bored... and maybe has a personal vendetta. whatever i write, he'll be against, that's another of those little facts of my life in the dnd boards... people like that happen. ![]() i believe there's no need to comment on the "you were wrong - i was right" part of his posts anymore, as really - what is there to argue if someone is just butting his head into the nearest walls? ![]() |
