| #1daladinnMay 26, 2009 7:33:47 | At the moment I find myself one of the many that wont be renewing with the new and improved pricing structure. However that being said, its more based on the product not delivering what I feel was promised. I am in the online tools camp , thought I should mention that. Things that IMHO need to be changed to improve DDI 1 - the encounter builder is an "interesting" but mostly "useless" feature at the moment. I really was hoping this would be a truly useful tool but , it needs these following changes to function better 1a - functionality in firefox. at the moment you need to run in in IE only. 1b - the ability to cross reference the compendium. I should be able to click on the entries and have a stats block pop up in a window for preview. 1c - the ability to actually print out a working encounter. As things stand I can print a list of monsters but not the stats behind them or anything else of importance. I feel I would need to be able to print everything needed to take this encounter right to the table and at the moment I cant. 2 - the character builder has many things inconsistent with the compendium. its very hard to track which is the "accurate" "errata". As far as i know both of these are supposed to be considered up to date and accurate , but sometimes they diverge. 3 - the compendium has a few flaws in its search function. MY biggest issue here is that there is some difficulty with feats that are not typed by tiers (heroic..etc). 4 - I am very confused on our "preferred" status. Often I hear about how as a DDI subscriber I get all this neat cool stuff to preview. However, when it comes to updating the online tools we don't see those until a week later. 5 - Mentioning the tabletop fiasco for completeness. that's my opinions hope it helps people. |

I really was hoping this would be a truly useful tool but , it needs these following changes to function better I use Firefox and have no problem using the Encounter Builder. In fact I was just using it before making this post. 1b - the ability to cross reference the compendium. I should be able to click on the entries and have a stats block pop up in a window for preview. There is a little eyeball icon thing on the left hand side of the entries. If you click it, a new window (or tab in Firefox) will open containing the compendium entry for the creature. 1c - the ability to actually print out a working encounter. As things stand I can print a list of monsters but not the stats behind them or anything else of importance. I feel I would need to be able to print everything needed to take this encounter right to the table and at the moment I cant. Besides the printing of the encounter notes you can print the compendium information that pops up in a new window. If you want to save paper though it will take a little effort on your part. Take screen shots and paste them into an art program. Align them to fit on a page and you save a little paper. Hopefully in the Campaign tools they will have a page like the powers in the Character Builder. |
