| #1rhsmithDec 26, 2008 19:43:37 | I have had a DDI account for some time and been able to log into it with no issues from my desktop (Windows XP). I am trying to setup a new notebook (running Vista 64) and can not log into my DDI account from it. ![]() I have no trouble with any other websites I need to log into. I have reported it to Wizards. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks for the help. Rick |

What browsers are you using and what add-ons and toolbars do you have active? Those are where the problem lies. The website uses code that has nothing to do with how your file system and shell are organized. Heck, it doesn't even use Flash. |

I understand it is not an OS problem, but I was not sure if it was a 32-bit vs 64-bit problem with drivers or other SW not being compatible with 64-bit vista. I have been able to resolve the problem at this point. :D In IE7 I shut off the protected mode (under security) and turned off the phishing filter (under the advanced tab). After these changes I was able to log in, but not reliably download dragon or dungeon compiled files. I do not know why these changes were required (I have some understanding, but not complete....), since my older system running XP (I know not the OS, but maybe 32-bit?) had the phishing filter on and has always worked. I did not see a protected mode in IE7 under XP. The protect mode change alone did not fix the issue. I have not tried the phishing filter change alone. I also downloaded the latest version of Java. I understand the DDI/wizards website requires Java and I had read a few articles that suggested Vista 64-bit and Java did not always get along. Once the latest version of Java (rel 11 I think) was installed, I was able to download both dungeon and dragon. Again, thanks for the response. |

I have yet to have problems with Java in an x64 application, and I've been beating the hell out of it trying to pin down bugs in x64 Server 2008. Sounds like the combination of outdated Java and tight security measures did you in. You might want to take a look at Firefox or Opera. |
