DDi progression thread?

Feb 26, 2009 19:48:37 Hi all, haven't been on in a long while and was wondering if someone could point me in the direction of the thread or section where we are being kept informed about the progression of the unfinished applications WOTC was originally advertising, like the Game Table and Visualizer? I seem to remember them saying one was going to be started but haven't been online since. Thanks for the help.

Feb 26, 2009 20:00:15 WotC reps and updates have not given any details about ongoing work on further applications by name. Updates have simply said that they are evaluating what to work on next (since the Character Builder is out), and will continue to work on DD&I and are committed to making it all that it can be. Best guesses seem to be that the Character Visualizer will be next, but that is not a stated plan.

So, the bottom line is, we are assured that there is progress. However, no specifics have been made available save that they are evaluating what to do next.

While there have been posts from WotC staff saying that they are committed to continuing to improve DDi, and that they are currently bug-fixing the Compendium and Character Generator, to my knowledge there has been no specific statement regarding the other originally planned applications, the Visualizer, Dungeon Builder, and Game Table.

Given that they have been removed from the DDi page and that despite repeated requests from posters for confirmation that they haven't been dropped no further clarification has been given from official sources, there is a considerable amount of concern here that they have in fact been dropped from future plans.

Note that there is no outright evidence of this aside from the alteration of the website, but the fact that nobody will simply confirm or deny the fears is adding to the fears and ill feeling among some of the (potential) customers.

Yes, we have. We are assured that they continue to work on making DDI the best it can be. I didn't say any more than that. Perhaps it would have been better to say "they assure us" rather than implying that I am actually assured.

Let me be clear: I don't have much faith in that assurance. But that is what they have said.

Edit: actually, I suppose "progress" is the word in question. We are being assured something about something.

Feb 26, 2009 22:05:10 All we have been assured is that WotC has no idea what is going on, or at least that is what we are led to believe. They haven't said if the y are working on anything, they haven't said that anything has been canned. They haven't let us know when they will know which of the tools they will continue on, or if they will continue on them at all.

In other words they have told us nothing. I am sure that they are all being told to be silent about any DDI info, because they are probably going to wait for a few months before they divulge what will be next. My guess sometime in march we see a DDI update.
