DDI subscription gripe with auto-renewal

After much yaying and naying I had finally decided to sign up to DDI, just to give it a whirl and see.  BUT - I only want to pay for one months trial.  And when I go to sign up, it helpfully tells me all about the auto-renewal feature - great for some folks, but not what I want.

So I leave the box unchecked - I'm not interested.  Then it tells me - "your subscription cannot proceed unless you tick that you have READ the auto-renewal."  Well yeh, I read it, and I understand it, I just don't want to sign up for it.  One of the terms when you read it says that you WILL be signed up for it!  I thought it was supposed to be a "helpful option"??  Thats a big WTF!

And I know that it says I can turn off the auto-renewal at any point, but I really, really don't like that when I sign up for a one month trial that I am FORCED to auto-subscribe forever and THEN turn it off.  Good for the business plan, bad for the customers.

Wizards - If you're going to have an auto-renewal option, please make it optional.  Don't call it an option then force us to sign up for it.

Grrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!

... time passes...

ok, I am now signed up and followed the very clear and helpful instructions in the FAQ on deactiving this option - but when I go to the Order History page, it is blank.  Maybe this is just because I have only just subscribed and the database is not updated yet (though I would have expected this to be instantaneous).  But does this mean that I cannot immediately deactivate  this option while it is fresh in my mind?

As someone once said (in a galaxy far, far away) "I have a bad feeling about this...."

Send a message to customer service; you should be able to disable auto-renew right away

yeh, got it disabled on the same day, the subscription option / page wouldn't show up for a while.

still don't like that you have to authorise Wizards to make future deductions from your c/card or paypal and then rely on the unsubscription mechanism.  But thats for wizards to consider I guess...

Ye it sucks,

Like that magic trick, pick any three cup,

Ok we discard that one

Ok thats mine

ta-da you pick this one!

Sign up via Pay-Pal. then Delete all the renewal information from within you Paypal account. If DDi or anyone else try to take payment, report them to Paypal under abuse.
