| #1soliceOct 10, 2008 16:07:24 | I wanted to give you folks as much notice as possible. There is a very good chance that DDi and Dragon & Dungeon Magazines will be going to the subscription model on Tuesday Morning. Make sure to look for the official announcement from Randy on Monday the 13th on the DDi Website. What does this mean? At subscription launch the following will be available to subscribers only:
A word to the wise! If you plan to subscribe to DDi and do not yet have a Wizards.com forum account, sign up now and avoid waiting “in line” on launch day! |
| #2mudbunnyOct 10, 2008 16:09:04 | Questions and answers for the announcement. Is [a Wizards.com account] the same as a Gleemax account? I thought you guys moved us away from Wizards.com forum account... If you have a forum account, a Gleemax account or a wizards.com account... you are set as these are all the same thing now. |

| #5darth_azalinOct 10, 2008 16:20:55 | Just wondering because everytime I try to look at the site with Firefox I get this![]() I hope you will not force us to use IE! |
| #6seTinyOct 10, 2008 16:27:01 | I use Firefox (2.0.0.17) and am able to log in to D&D insider. I just tried with two accounts. Edit: 3 accounts. I just tried one that I haven't used in a few months. I haven't had a problem with the website and firefox. |
| #42whitebaronOct 13, 2008 16:11:15 | We have already had a Open Beta or Trial of what they are going to start charging us for. It has lasted many months and weeks. So the base is pretty defined in this case as well. i should likely be offended by the tone and style your posts are in, but lets get back on topic: the schedule they try to set, has not been met for most of the trial phase. actually, it was published only starting october. and: i know there are no guarantees, but they don't seem to have any long-term plans at all. all they care about is to get money in as fast as possible. and that i do not like. |
| #43darth_azalinOct 13, 2008 16:24:27 | i should likely be offended by the tone and style your posts are in, but lets get back on topic: It wouldn't bother me if you did. As you read with tone implied. I can't write tone. Style? I have no idea what you could mean. Unless you draw the flair of writing like what Greenwood does compared to Salvatore? Then I guess I should be flattered that you care as much. I don't see what the schedule not being met problem. ALL I care about is having a compiled issue at the end of the month. That is it. When I had a hard copy of the magazine I had it as a 1 shot. I wasn't able to read bits and pieces of it before it was in my hands. So I (and many others) could careless about it. They're are never really any long term plans. Even when the put them out it all can change. Microsoft letting OEM sell XP till next year is a perfect example. They are doing this because of Windows 7 coming in 2010. Why have people buy an OS just for a couple years of use. Like I said if there is any place where I can place my order for a year I will surely do it. This very second. I support the product and the product gives me relaxation. One reason why I don't deal with Paizo. I don't like their lack of professionalism. Can't always blame things on printers. If you are then don't ship the job to China. |
| #44astriemerOct 13, 2008 19:01:41 | So, um, maybe I'm being dense but where would I go to pay for this assuming it does go behind the firewall tomorrow? |
| #45scythe0925Oct 13, 2008 19:21:17 | So there gonna start charging for stuff, when all the good stuff isisnt even available yet? not to mention its still 6 months after the launch and the tools arent done?!?! The only reason i bought the 4e stuff was that my gaming group is now spread all over the country. Charge for digital issues of Dragon and Dungeon, ugh fine. Make the Vminis a nickel and dime scheme? Whatever. But this is stupid. I'm done buying 4e product (And selling it since i work at a retailer that has it). I'll check back in a year and a half when the game table MIGHT be up. Anyone wanna buy some 4e books cheap? |
| #46KM.549Oct 13, 2008 19:23:38 | So, um, maybe I'm being dense but where would I go to pay for this assuming it does go behind the firewall tomorrow? Don't worry. Once WOTC has the sign up page(s) up and running. It will be VERY CLEAR on the DnD main page where to go to give WOTC your money (put in your CC number). Very clear where to go. Unlike When 4th ed launched and you had to literary hunt the fourms for the info that should have been on the main page. |
| #47samwiseOct 13, 2008 19:26:37 | One reason why I don't deal with Paizo. I don't like their lack of professionalism. Can't always blame things on printers. If you are then don't ship the job to China. What has Paizo blamed on their printers? Also, WotC has shipped their printing jobs to China as well. That leaves them with no one but themselves to blame when their e-zine articles are late. |
| #48KM.549Oct 13, 2008 19:29:04 | What has Paizo blamed on their printers? Sorry for sounding dumb. But why would you need to send an article that is going to be posted on the internet to a printer? You can do all the lay out, art, ect in house, save it as a PDF or whatever file type you want, and post it online. |
| #49samwiseOct 13, 2008 19:54:50 | Sorry for sounding dumb. But why would you need to send an article that is going to be posted on the internet to a printer? You can do all the lay out, art, ect in house, save it as a PDF or whatever file type you want, and post it online. Their regular products are printed in China. Their e-zine articles just do not have a deadline of 3 months before release. |
| #50darth_azalinOct 13, 2008 21:10:41 | What has Paizo blamed on their printers? Fumble Cards (which ended up being like almost 6 months late) Pathfinder stuff I can go on and on... I am just glad that I no longer have to deal with those people. |
| #51samwiseOct 13, 2008 21:17:25 | Fumble Cards (which ended up being like almost 6 months late) I do not recall them blaming any Pathfinder stuff on their printer. They have blamed it on themselves, for missing deadlines, and they were quite upfront about a shipment being delayed in customs. It should also be noted that Paizo subscriptions only charge you when they ship, so even if they are delayed you are not paying for nothing. As for dealing with them . . . When the magazine subscriptions were ending I wound up 1 issue short on my Dungeon subscription and multiple issues over on my Dragon subscription. So did several other people. When asked, they shifted issues over so people would not have to scramble or pay single issue price for the last issue of Dungeon. That is why I converted my remaining issues to a Pathfinder subscription instead of taking a refund. |
| #52lancemoodyOct 13, 2008 22:03:04 | Wait! You say the character builder will be entering a CLOSED BETA as soon as RELATIVELY SOON! WOW! And you make no mention of the Game table at all! Hold me Back! And it doesn't work on my computer anyway... You had me at relatively soon! |

| #54RyokuOct 14, 2008 1:10:26 | This seems like a good place to post my opinion on the matter. $8 for the content currently available? In my opinion it's BARELY worth it, but it is worth it. I've enjoyed Dragon and have used a not insignificant amount of content from it. But the thing I find the most useful is the compendium. As an experiment I've placed a laptop at my gaming table. The compendium is extremely useful and now that monsters are in it I can for see myself using it a lot. Those two combined make it almost worth it. But the promise of the character visualizer and virtual table top push it over the edge. I really hope these tools become available because I NEED the visualizer. So yeah, they get some money from me... again. |
| #55jinneticsOct 14, 2008 1:37:25 | 1. We have no idea if WoTC will be here tomorrow or even Hasbro. No guarantees Well that's hardly a fair point. No business can guarantee that and no customer can realistically have that expectation - especially in today's economy. It's their job to try to get you to part with what little money you have. I have to admit they're not doing a very good job of it so far, as I will not be budgeting for D&DI in the near future. |
| #56the_simple_seeker_iiOct 14, 2008 1:46:30 | Well good luck...and I hope things fare welll. |
| #57ArtifactOct 14, 2008 12:17:05 | Quick question on "Auto-Renewal": I am leery of making final confirmation of my purchase without knowing ahead of time exactly how to cancel the auto-renewal feature. Clicking "confirm" activates the feature automatically; no way to avoid it that I can see. I plan on suscribing only occassionally; I don't want to get *trapped* into a billing cycle by this, unable to cancel a subscription which automatically renews itself. Edit: Oh, my question: Can I cancel the auto-renewal immediately after confirming the purchase, and if so, how exactly? Thanks for any help ;). |
| #58DrRonDerryJrOct 14, 2008 14:55:18 | So Wizards is going to start charging before the Character Visualizer, Character Builder, Dungeon Builder or Game table are even finished? I'll pass. |
| #59WolfStar76Oct 14, 2008 15:00:40 | So Wizards is going to start charging before the Character Visualizer, Character Builder, Dungeon Builder or Game table are even finished? They're charging a reduced rate to reflect that only the magazines, bonus tools, and Compendium are available right now. |
| #60soliceOct 14, 2008 15:28:44 | Quick question on "Auto-Renewal": Hey there! Just wanted to point out a resource that is most helpful, the FAQ regarding the subscriptions can be found here. The information about stopping auto renewal can be found here. Please keep in mind that when you stop your auto renew it does NOT cancel your current subscription. Your subscription will continue for the length of time that you signed up for. I hope this helps! |
| #61ArtifactOct 14, 2008 15:36:54 | Hey there! Yes, it does indeed. Thanks so much ;)! Only thing is, if I want to buy an occassional monthlly issue, I'll have to submit a form to the "billing specialists" each and every time, so as to not get sucked into automatically buying the next month's issue. |
