| #1mudbunnyJul 22, 2008 13:10:58 | I have noticed that there are about a dozen threads scattered throughout the DDi forums where people are describing the technical problems that they are having with DDi, either Insider (logging on) or with viewing the .pdf files. In order to make life easier for the DDi staff, I plan on closing those other threads and moving all technical problems to this thread. Hopefully, having all the problems in one place will make it easier for the WOtC staff (as well as other forum users) to diagnose and solve the problems. |
| #2mudbunnyJul 22, 2008 13:11:31 | This post will be a list of threads where people mentiont hat they are having problems logging into DDi. |
| #3mudbunnyJul 22, 2008 13:12:11 | A fair number of people are having problems opening the .pdf files as presented ont he WOtC website. When they open them in their web browser, they get text similar to this: [indent]Accessing File.%PDF-1.4 %âã |
| #4balancedJul 27, 2008 14:10:26 | The PDF issue could certainly be a configuration issue on whatever web server package (Apache and IIS being the best known two) WotC is using. It could be intermittent if load balancing or multiple servers are involved. |
| #5seeker_of_truth_dupAug 01, 2008 17:16:40 | I'm having a log on issue. I've logged on before, but now it tells me to migrate my account, but when I go to the migrqate page it says I've already migrated. |
| #6TsuulAug 04, 2008 17:55:32 | The wizards site is currently having technical issues (same issues that were affecting it late last night) that are also affecting DDI. "Microsoft VBScript compilation error '800a03e9' Out of memory /default.asp, line 0 " is the message I keep seeing instead of a webpage. |
| #7highbulpAug 04, 2008 20:11:09 | Okay, I'm getting the login problem. Firefox 3.0.1, Windows XP. I put in my username and password, and a box pops up: We are sorry that we could not Yes, it was working fine before, and the username and password are stored so I didn't type in anything wrong or something. Browsing around for a solution, I saw something about removing cookies. So I deleted all cookies associated with Gleemax and Wizards. Then when I put in my login info, the page refreshes, but I am no longer logged in. Then when I try and log in again, the box shows up. Is there another solution I haven't found yet? Maybe we need a sticky thread of "fixes" to D&DI issues. |
| #8EugeeAug 05, 2008 18:48:02 | No matter how I try to download the compilation PDFs for the most recent Dungeon/Dragon magazines, they are corrupted and won't open. I've tried clicking them directly, using save as, neither works. Firefox. |
| #9wotc_markAug 14, 2008 11:53:22 | You should no longer need to log in to download files for issues of the magazines that are free. As for the odd behavior with the .pdf files. That was as a result of how we were delivering the files and should be fixed for now. We are currently working on a permanent solution. Some problems may have occurred as a result of the file size of the pdf's that were recently uploaded to the site. We have run them through an optimization phase and reduced the file size considerably however we are working to make even smaller files for you so that they use as little bandwidth and take as little time as possible to download to you. Rest assured that we want the process of delivering the magazines to you to be as smooth and easy as possible. MJ ![]() |
| #10checksixAug 16, 2008 18:08:20 | You should no longer need to log in to download files for issues of the magazines that are free. I can't beleive how clunky the tools feel. Even the animated drop downs are jerky and weird. I'm running a VERY fast system (C2D 3.0GHz Vista 64bit 4GB RAM) and you're tools run slow and clunky. Really guys, you're screwing this online thing up. |
| #11sirfattyAug 17, 2008 8:39:46 | that is a Java based App dude. That is why its a little jerky on the drop downs. You downloaded nothing. Once the software is actually on your system it will be smooth. |
